It's all about WHO YOU REINVEST IN.
I think recent past history will show that LFC haven't a particularly good record in investing large sums of money in playing staff........

True but you must learn from your mistakes. If we squander money like we did these last 5 years, we deserve mid table mediocrity

This club is about excellence, excellence in coaching, excellence in players, excellence in management, and the best fans in the world

We will get back to that, I'm sure of it

I repeat. No player is bigger than the club. Nobody

Of course not, but to compare us losing Suarez to us losing Rush in 87 or Keegan in 77 is silly as we were the undisputed kings of all we surveyed then.

Losing Suarez in the summer would be an unmitigated disaster, make no bones about it, and would take serious skill in the transfer market to make up for the loss.

I totally agree. We are not that far away. The problem is, we all including me want a quick fix and that aint gonna happen.
Same goes for January its difficult to get value in Jan, unless the club have something up their sleeve. Unearth another Saurez ?? Easier said than done.
    But I remain hopeful

There is a few January bargains out to be taken advantage of Huntelaar , Fernando Llorente , Darren Bent and Walcott to name a few . We just need to get in early and show them why they would want to play for us .

Usually i'd agree but without him this season we'd be relegation fodder.

I have to say i'm getting worried at the moment.

Rodgers substitutions and selections are worse than Kenny's were last year. At least when he picked Downing he was playing him in midfield, not bloody left back. If i'm honest, the idea of playing Wisdom at LB is a terrible idea when Enrique and Robinson are far better than him in the position.

Although he was excellent when he played there, the choice of Shelvey as a striker is mad as well with Yesil, Morgan and Pacheco more suited to playing in that position than a CM.

Playing Carragher before Coates and Cole before Suso, Pacheco, Assaidi, Morgan and Sahin is crazy.

Gerrard needs to be dropped this weekend. He looks tired and can barely string two passes together.

For me the team against Southampton should be.

    Renia

    Johnson
    Skrtel
    Agger
    Robinson/Enrique

    Allen
    Lucas/Henderson

    Sterling
    Sahin/Shelvey
    Enrique/Suso/Assaidi

    Suarez

Ha, you think we will challenge for the title under the present owners? regardless if Suarez stays or not? people can talk about Dortmund all they want but the German league has not got the same cash rich clubs the EPL does.

    As it stands.

    Current owners = below 4th

    Current manager = below 4th

    Current squad = below 4th

Said it before and i will say it again BR took this job too soon and he should have listened to his own advice when asked about taking over Chelsea.

''I want to build a career and not destroy one''

I really dont know if he has been badly shafted or he knew the score from day 1 but sadly i think i think it will be a harsh lesson for him.

Cool, but what we really need is a good negotiator, early to us is the 30th of January :pac:

How long does it take a club to "learn from its mistakes"?
It doesn't appear that happened in the most recent transfer window either.....

Every club strives to be about that.

I think you've been sucked in by the PR/Spin to be honest when you start spewing nonsense like that.

More stuff again in tomorrows papers that we won't give anymore than £20k a week to Sterling and he wants double that amount in his new contract. I hope it gets sorted soon.

Ive got a horrible little feeling we could loose the kid.

20 grand a week. I know its small money vs big star players but for an 18 year old, its huge money to be paid! (I mean an 18 year old in general, not pro sports stars ). My head spins thinking of that kinda cash

I agree if we can pay wasters like cole and downing a fortune we should at least show the younger players they will get a fair slice of the cake too . It would also make signing up 15 and 16 years easier because they will see us as a club will to invest time , effort and a proper paycheck if they make it .

40k a week is too much tbh. Interesting situation if true. I couldn't see us paying it but City...

dumb move, spend 3.5 million to stand still, one reserve defender in, one out - neither to get a chance

i see rodgers in the papers tonight has said gerrard has carried the club for 12 years and we need to ease his burden - this guy's comments are annoying me more and more....it insults not only our current players but players of the past and at the same time, yet again we are elevating gerrard onto a podium despite the fact he hasn't played well for us for at least 2 years

i hate to say it but he is coming across more and more as a spoofer with each passing week, not that i would mind too much if the results were better but magnificent outstanding relentless liverpool have made their worst start in premier league history

indeed this guy could pull off the greatest con-trick of all, making mediocrity acceptable at the club as long as are delivered plaudits and promised pipe dreams on a weekly basis

how about you do 2 things brendan

    1) pick up plenty of points in the next 7

    2) make some decent signings in january and if you aren't getting the cash you want, then demand it, ultimatums etc

after that then you can start waffling again, but it's kind of hard to listen to when you have delivered precisely sfa

Wouldnt surprise me, nothing would surprise me in the Jan window, actually, i take that back.

Would be top work all round if we loaned out a player Juventus are reported to be sniffing around. Dont know who this Juventus crowd are but im told they are decent.
