crying about Rafa and Kenny is futile. Time will tell if BR and FSG are true to their word

    Obviously.

There's no harm in questioning them though is there? If the owners don't invest in the squad its mid table for Liverpool this season.

Will a mid table finish keep Suarez and attract top players? Doubtful.

Invest in Jan and the team could challenge top 6 +. Top 4 imo won't happen. Arsenal and Spurs squads are much better atm and the best squads finish higher in the league. However, some investment and a decent 2nd half to the season might show that there's some hope for a top 4 challenge for next season.

Time to walk the walk for the owners.

I totally agree. We are not that far away. The problem is, we all including me want a quick fix and that aint gonna happen.

Same goes for January its difficult to get value in Jan, unless the club have something up their sleeve. Unearth another Saurez ?? Easier said than done.

    But I remain hopeful

Pet peeve, but this gets repeated far too often. One needs to only look at last January to see absolutely loads of terrific value players snapped up by other clubs. We didn't bother getting the striker or centre midfielder we very clearly desperately needed, and it cost us big time.

No clubs wants to loose a player ( a decent player) in that window

Players can be found in January I.E saurez but if we wont Walcott and or Sturridge it will cost more in Jan than it would in the summer.

At what point is it acceptable to sit forward and discuss?

    My guess would be...

    The owners - Should already be under scrutiny. Made a mess of our Summer window. Doing alot of hiring and firing. No action on the stadium. The optimist could look at it this way ;

They gave Kenny/Commolli the guts of 100 million to spend and it was blown. Obviously this will make them alot more cautious. The wage bill was ridiculous too.

Owners possibly going in with the frame of mind of "fix this mess".

Come the 1st of February will tell us alot more. If we are still strikerless with pittance spent, well then yes its time to get seriously worried.

Rodgers - Definitely not after the summer window we've just had, Definitely not after 14 games in the league.

The time to start seriously discussing Rodgers will be after this season. Lets see what sort of players he brings in, lets start seeing some of the results once his "system" is fully in place and the team has had time to adjust.

If we are sitting in the same place this time next year with only 16 points with no sign of improvement? THEN its time to start discussing.

It would also be important to note, our newly hired scouts were stuck on gardening leave for ages. Think they have only started.

The sheer lack of patience is shocking.

If Sturridge is seen as the answer to our problems then our problems are bigger than we thought.

The bad English makes it hilarious.

Unfortunately I can also see it making headlines. Twitter is evil.

So the general consensus is we won't qualify for the CL this year and with investment we might the year after. That's almost 2 full years away from MAYBE CL football. Suarez won't stay that long. A bug offer will come in and he will leave. For players as good as he is it's not about playing CL football, it's about challenging and winning top leagues and CLs. Unless a dramatic set of events unfolds this may be his last year with us.

Yep, highly unlikely he sticks around for another year of this rubbish. He is like a flower grown out of a pot of dirt right now.

    Rodgers well in with Jose
How we got Sahin I'll never know
Must have being a word in Sahins ear
He was at Arsenal virtually ,

Its the new plan the owners have in place for making the players go round with smiles on their faces all the time to promote a more positive team spirit in order to win games :pac:

You were asking one of the lads on here to answer your question regarding rodgers/FSG and the timeframe. I gave my thoughts in post 3396

Would be genuinely interested to see what you think considering your coming at this from a different angle than me.

I think Jan is make or break for FSG. The signs are pretty bad currently for them.

For Rodgers, he should be judged as the season progresses, as Llyod pointed out last night, he's managed nearly 30 games at Liverpool. It's fine to judge him thus far on those. And it's not been good enough. Not even nearly.

I think if our results haven't improved by Jan, he'll be in FSG's crosshairs.

    2 years?
No chance. Not unless a few hundred million are pumped into the club and are spent well.
You just have to look at the clubs you are competing against and where they are currently going/financial position then have a review of where yer current squad is at.

BR talks a good talk (most of the time) but as many have said things have to start changing on the pitch soon. Mind you LFC had a relatively tough fixture list starting out, the next 6 weeks aren't so bad so that will give a good outline of where they are heading.

Lloyd you worry too much. Too much worrying will turn you into a grumpy old man.

If Suarez wants to leave next year we'll just sell him and reinvest. Man u recovered after selling Ronaldo, Newcastle recovered after selling Andy Carroll, LFC recovered after selling our best players in the past (Keenan, rush, etc.). It happens all the time.

No player is bigger than the club.

At this particular point in history Suarez is probably more important than anyone at the club right now with the important goals he has scored recently, goals that have kept us out of the bottom of the league.

It might only be a short space in time but don't under estimate the importance of Luis Suarez to this club at this particular time in history.
We are not Man Utd with the ability to sell a prize asset and have cover available, we are not City or Chelsea and go to market and over pay for what we want... we are a struggling club with no real light at the end of the tunnel (yet).
Lose Suarez in our current state and we may aswell forget about it for a decade or so.

    Are you serious??
It's all about WHO YOU REINVEST IN.
I think recent past history will show that LFC haven't a particularly good record in investing large sums of money in playing staff........

I think we would all agree on the owners. I'm worried that they will spout the "there isnt value in the January window" line even though Newcastle seemed to do well with Cisse!

I dont agree on Rodgers though. That sort of process should be alot longer unless its something obvious such as they way Hodgsons was going. Horrible football and all the wrong things being said from the off.

As a whole Rodgers has been pretty good in the media. I just feel some people are waiting to jump on anything he says/does.

Look at the way Klopp and Dortmund started out. Didnt they finish 11th in their first season? And Klopp had previously been sacked at his former club. Im sure there were dortmund fans worried then too.
