    True....from here till the 13th of January will be a better barometer. Very winnable games.

    December
    Sat - 1 Southampton H 15:00 W
    Sun - 9 West Ham A 16:00 D
    Sat - 15 Aston Villa H 15:00 W
    Sat - 22 Fulham H 17:30 W
    Wed - 26 Stoke City A 19:45 D
    Sun - 30 QPR A 16:00 D

    January 2013
    Wed - 2 Sunderland H 19:45 W
    Sun - 13 Man United A 13:30 L
    Sat - 19 Norwich H 15:00 W
    Wed - 30 Arsenal A 19:45 L

    February 2013
    Sat - 2 Manchester City A 15:00 L

    The next 11 league games. Even doing ok, I would expect the above to be the average of what we achieve then, and that's 18 points form those 11 league games, which would have us on 34 from 25 played, but they way we are scoring I certainly wouldn't be confident of 18 points. Even with somewhat easier games on paper after the above, it will take a miracle for us to finish top 4 now. If things pan out as above, some will point to a patch of 1 league defeat in 16 games, which would be remarkable for a team that low down, but 8 of those being draws minimises the effectiveness of that tbh. There is potential there, but this team has forgotten how to win games on the spin. We would likely still be about 12th with 34 from 25 which for Liverpool is scandalous.

    We have been saying for 2 years that the results will get better, but they haven't. It's depressing stuff being a Liverpool fan in the 2010's.

    I know this, but we aren't maximizing the resources on our books at present. Andy Carroll would be handy to have around. We're certainly gaining nothing by having him down in London. I don't see us doing much in the January window, but team affairs are not being run optimally right now either.

    In isolation im not too bothered about Carroll not being there, the onus was on us to bring someone in. The real troubles are just basic stuff, if we dont even have a proper communication line between owners and manager i dont even want to know what else is going on behind the scenes for fear i might implode.

    @Luckylloyd

    £35 Million Carroll
    £20 Million Downing
    £6 Million Adam

    £61 Million on loan, sold or likely to be told to get the feck out.

    £6 Million Enrique, now a converted left winger, who we'll alll fall in love with, then he'll get bored, same as so many of ye thought he was he best thing since sliced bread a year ago, a Kenny decent signing, lets exalt him to the Heavens.

    Anyway, so Enrique £6 Million
    Henderson £16 Million, he has tackled a bit and thrown shapes across the pitch, brilliant.

    Another £21 Million wasted, or well might be useful in the future.

    £22 Million Suarez.

    Let Meireles go, a decision you heavily critised heavily at the time. WE could do with a Meireles or a Maxi now. Maxi scored goals, Kenny didn't pick him. Rodgers wanted him to stay.

    All this Rodgers has to deal with.

    Fecking Sounness signings and losing Meireles and Maxi along the way.

    But a team's points in isolation is the barometer for judging their progression or regression. And if you're more worried about us this year than last you aren't living in the real world to be frank. We're nowhere near you this season.

    Yous are 5 behind us at the moment compared to 3 at the same point last season and are missing Lucas this year so far.
    As for points in isolation, Arsenal, Spurs, Newcastle and Chelsea all have fewer points than the same time last year.

    Do you fancy a little bet on where Liverpool will finish this season? Not sure if you're one of those who've mentioned bottom half as a possibility but I'd definitely go for that. Liverpool will finish no worse than 7th and I would them to catch Everton while they're at it.

    Rodgers is going on about penalties for gerrard and suarez, on first look i didn't think either were penalties -

    Deffo not a penalty for Suarez as Gallas clearly got the ball, but I think Gerrard should have got a penalty if the ref was to be consistant. Dempsey was given a foul for something similar if i recall

    Has Kenny done any interviews since leaving that admitted culpability in terms of the signings he made - has to be the worst series of signings in premier league history.....I know Comolli was part of it but didn't Kenny say he had the final say on signings, I wonder how he feels about them know

    I guarantee you that United would have won that game with the score line 2-1.
    The next month is make or break for rodgers. It's put up or shut up.

    Utd have serious attacking talent, we do not...

    The excuses being bandied about for Rodgers performance in the job this far are quite incredible.

    He is performing appallingly in his job, there's no other way to dress it up.

    Rodgers has shown glimpses of real top level management. People want him to come in and miracles to happen... with the fact that the previous two seasons provided us with such a negative impact on the squad he's in a nightmare of a situation. Combined with the fact that he was given feck all cash in the summer and i don't know what people want...

    Has he been perfect this season? Nope... not even close. Has any manager been perfect this season? Didn't think so... if given time i think we have a manager capable of making us into the kind of club we all feel we deserve to be.

    what would you do ? It's rank we are not getting results, it's rank that we are sometimes playin well but not getting the points... with the team we have what would you do? What can Rodgers do? I don't think he has the players imo...

    we don't have enough attacking quality. Up front tonight, Suarez is world class, Raheem is hit and miss but only 17, and tbh I thought Enrique was our best player tonight but he is a full back...

    we need money invested in the team and money spent on quality, everyone we bring in has to work. it's not that easy though.

    Enrique was our best player tonight if you ask me

    I'm not sure what people want, its gonna take us a while to get back and i don't think Rodgers should get the full blame on this because of the shíte we bought over the last couple of years

    hello Luckylloyd can you answer the few questions i posed here?

    What has any of the above to do with:

    - playing Gerrard in a deep lying role when anyone paying a small bit of attention knows it's not his best position and will hamper the very style the manager wishes to implement;
    - knackering Sterling;
    - playing Downing at left back;
    - playing Borrini out wide;
    - describing tonight's performance as "magnificent", "outstanding" and "relentless";

    ?

    Time to face up to your boy's handling of team affairs. 24 competitive games under the belt now...

    He is not implementing the best tactics, he is not playing playing players in their best positions, he is not speaking appropriately given the club's history relative to current performances.

    He is not doing anything near the best job possible, difficult context notwithstanding.

    Watch out folks, we're moving toward a permanent lowering of expectations...

    What's the line? Per point spread or straight over under?

    Straight over / under.

    I got a small bit of action at 64 points which I feel great about. :)

    And a more significant bit at 60, which I'm confident about.

    Actually, both those things will suck, money notwithstanding. :(

    I don't know.

    Kenny would have us targeting 4 th according to Lucky so does it really matter? Kenny reigns supreme no matter what.

    that's probably the important bit.

    Have I given any indication that I do?

    My view is that results alone cannot reliably project what we will do in the future.

    If we had beaten Man United and Man City, as we deserved to and we had beaten Everton, where we were blatantly robbed of 3 points - we would be in an excellent position.

    But things would still not be ok. We might have more points, but not enough that I think it will make a difference this season.

    I might be alone in thinking this, but I think we have performed pretty well in the league this season. I'm convinced we will see the fruit of the work we have done between now and the end of the season.

    I think some fans just need to get through the next two phases of hope before they see the wood from the trees.

    Phase#1 Lucas return is gonna sort out the MF and allow Allen, Sahin and Gerrard play in more suited rolls (insert rolling eyes smiley)

    Phase#2 The striker of all strikers is gonna join the ranks in January and we are gong to become the Brendan Rodgers Barca brigade MKII (insert roll eyes smiley)

    When all the above are complete and we still find ourselves with a low ppg who then is gonna get the blame or where else are the excuse going to come from?

    That paragraph posted earlier (from Rawk I think) was spot on-why are we always looking forward?
    Look at the now and 16 from 42 points is disgraceful for the players available to Rodgers no matter how thin the squad is.
    He is under performing and to say otherwise is deluded ( hate using that word!)

    I asked you what can he do with the players he has, Mr. Alan you can chip in too if you want.

    About lowering of expectations, Hodgo started that and Kenny continued that in the league*

    LuckyLloyd what formation and team should we play?

    Where do people think we will finish points wise this season? I think 53 is a likely ballpark amount, which is 1 point better off than last season.
