Anymore Gerrard, Suarez, Glenjo diving, and Agger should be on their case, screaming in their faces..

    Sort them out.

Was 4th your expectation for the season?

Anyone expecting Liverpool to come 4th is doing so purely on their reputation as a big club. We have average 7th for the last 3 years and were not exactly on the receiving end of heavy investment in the summer.

If Kenny had stayed, 4th would have been the target. It was the target at the start of last season. Lowered expectations it seems.

Now, like last season after the Arsenal home defeat, in my opinion the focus should shift primarily to our remaining Cup participation. League is over, we'll be mid table.

He caused the goal. Bad pass and 2 pathetic tackles and Downing will get most of the blame. His positioning was awful, he got caught up the pitch too many times and left the defence and his other 2 midfielders exposed.

Maybe you should watch the game again and pick out what he did right. At least Allen and Henderson showed a bit of fight.

    Exactly.
Most of the teams above us are now meeting the tougher fixtures we have been through but cant help but think we should be well on the way to improving our league position by now with the last few games bar maybe Chelsea.

If they were capable of attacking like that for 90 minutes they would be a much better team. They can't turn it on and off at will.

Of course you can turn it off when you go two goals up. I would say that a team that executes that game plan after they go two goals by picking us off when we really started pushing for a goal is tactically astute. They have no reason two goals up to stand trading blows with us.

    Question for you guys.

What happens if we push Gerrard up to the front three and he doesn't work there either? I am worried that people are taking it for granted that he can play in that position.

I can just about live with the gutting disapointment of tonight's result, but the excuses from fans is too much.

What's it going to take to see the wood from the trees ?

    A relagation battle?

Get rid off Kenny's £80 Million deadwood, nearly half is gone already and another £20 Million needs putting down.

I hope Allen isn't regressing to the mean, but he's not reproducing his early season form at present.

Didn't catch the game but sounds like the same old story, played well for the most part, dominated possession, more chances, should have got a peno, didn't get the right result.

Very frustrating. We need more leaders and we need more goal scorers. We need better players. That'll take a few more transfer windows to sort out

However, in the short term we need better results. Dec is a chance to make up lost ground. Lucas coming back is a great opportunity too. Need to drop Downing, rest Gerrard or play him in front 3, and give either Sahin / Shelvey / Suso a run of games

In those 6 games we should be aiming for a minimum of 13 points but we could get say 7 or 8 points from those six and they still wouldn't sack him

the reality is although it is a results business for the fans, for the owners it's not just the results, it's the pr, the media, the interviews and press conferences, the transfer demands and in that regard they have the perfect man regardless of how awful the results have been

Actually half is gone, Carroll and Adam. Downing next and we'll just hope Henderson turns into a footballer.

Kenny would be targetting 4th, with that fecking lot? Dream on.

He's 22 and his gf just had a kid. He looks shattered out there and reminds me a lot of Lucas at the start, who found the physical nature of the DM tough going and give away some silly fouls. Needs to go back to his normal position until he becomes stronger.

16 pts out of a possible 42 is shocking.

I wonder is there much chance of seeing Lucas on the pitch on Saturday

Senior players wanted out, some others were pushed out. A new emphasis on younger players was brought in.

That changes things, though that's not to say our position is good enough. We are a better team than 12th.

I hope so, if even for 30 mins at the end.

It was moderate but it probably just got higher!

Chose not to watch the game and I'm not going to trawl the match thread for nuggets of insight - where were the failings?

Plus he is getting no help from any of our other midfielders either which will make it harder on him .

Yes, he would. That would have been the objective at the start of the season. I can also ****ing guarantee you that he wouldn't have been heard using adjectives like "magnificent", "outstanding" and "relentless" to describe tonight's game.

For reference, if we went the rest of the way with a 2ppg average in the league we would finish with 64 points - good enough for 4th or better four times in the 20 team era. And not since 2005.

Yeah but all except the top 2 have dropped massive points as well. Ignoring WBA Liverpool are only a point or 2 further from the CL places than the same time last season and that was with Lucas.

Tactically astute? Come on . . . they were giving us numerous chances and creating none. That's tactical suicide more than tactically astute.

That I wouldn't be so sure of... and if real investment isn't made soon we wont be improving either

He is regressing to the mean, which given how poor Henderson, Gerrard and Sahin have been, explains a lot. The sooner Lucas gets back the better.

No leaders out there. Gerrard strolls about the pitch waiting for opportunites, Henderson is a joke and the manager wont pick Sahin.

The teams only leader at this stage last season was Lucas and nothing has changed.

Rodgers is going on about penalties for gerrard and suarez, on first look i didn't think either were penalties - and that's coming from a man who thinks pool and suarez in particular have been denied several this season, on top of dodgy offsides

oh well at least there is a slight change from last season's narrative of excuses which was the woodword and the opposition keepers

i wish he would just come out and say "Listen, we know the points total is not good enough and we simply have to get the results, this club should not be anywhere near where it is in the table and it's my job to change that fast or i will rightly be questioned"
