I remember people here last year talking about 15mil for Darren Bent!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,987 ✭✭✭Kerrigooney

    He's dung.

I was too hasty. He's not dung but I don't really want him at Anfield.

We'd probably pay way over the odds for him.

    Whatever "the odds" are....

No, please no. If Darren Bent is the extent of our ambition then we are settling for 6th at best.

6 million in the hand, might be better than 2 Bents!

Even last year I would have said 'bargain', but the chaps obviously got problems.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has shrugged off talk that he was a target for Tottenham prior to the appointment of Andre Villas-Boas.

Rodgers, who takes his Liverpool side to White Hart Lane on Wednesday was reported to be a target for Tottenham following the sacking of Harry Redknapp in the summer.

Rodgers dismissed as "irrelevant" the suggestion Tottenham had made a serious approach to him to replace Redknapp, insisting he had no regrets over his decision to move to Liverpool

"I was very happy in my work at Swansea," said Rodgers. "Harry had done a brilliant job there, and for whatever reason, the club decided that it wasn't to be and looked elsewhere.

"For me to leave Swansea was going to be a big ask, but I had the opportunity to come here, and I've not regretted any moment of it."

"For me to leave Swansea was going to be a big ask, but I had the opportunity to come here, and I've not regretted any moment of it."

Asked if there had been contact with Tottenham over a move to White Hart Lane earlier this year, Rodgers said: "It's irrelevant. Tottenham have chosen a manager. Obviously, Harry had done a great job there, and they decided to go down the route of Andre Villas-Boas.

"Andre's gone in, he's looking to continue the great work Harry had done. My only thinking is about Liverpool."

Bent allegedly stormed out of the ground tonight after been dropped again.

If I was a no risk loan (wages only) then why not, but I fear it may be seen as a solution rather than an interim fix.

Wisdom back after injury and has to shackle Bale. Poor bastard.

Is bale good ? Everybody I know says he is very over rated and a few of them are spurs fans . They have said to me that its a case of sky sports still having a thing for him after his hat trick against inter .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,347 ✭✭✭✭Grayditch

Well he has the ability to ghost past Wisdom and pass it to Defoe who'll knock it in, if Agger and Skrtel aren't paying attention.

Saying that, there were 4 men who hurt Liverpool last year and he wasn't one. Adebeyor, Modric, Walker and to some extent Parker. Only two of those will be playing, so who knows.

These Darren Bent rumours are all i've been hearing for the past few days. If we're looking to buy him we should be looking to spend no more than £6m. He's getting on towards 30 and isnt that great anyway.

A loan would be the preferred option. No-lose situation for us.

When Lucas back, This weekend its a case of Gerrard of Sahin
Drop Gerrard ? Or would it free up Gerrard to get us some goals,

Strange that the game isn't on tv tomorrow night. Home and away to Spurs is almost always live on tv.

Tough game tomorrow. Can't see anything better than a draw.

Bale is extremely dangerous and the best left winger in the league.

Goals, assists, pace, power, trickery. He's incredibly dangerous on the counter (Spurs are in general to be honest. Lennon on the right is also a threat with his pace).

We'll have to be careful not to get caught out on the break tomorrow. If we're going to press high up we need to be winning it back. I would expect us to probably shelve this tactical plan and drop back a bit deeper.

Anyone think we could see the 5-3-2 counter-attacking formation deployed?

I don't think we should be too scared about tomorrow. Bar some bad refereeing decisions we would be level (arguably could even be ahead) of Spurs. They've had some poor draws at home this year and don't look all that consistent.

Spurs are favourite because they are at home but I wouldn't be shocked if we came away with the 3 points. We have the quality to do it in my opinion. Suarez might get a bit more space than he had on Sunday.

I would say it means Stevie will be pushed further forward . I know from watching Being Liverpool Brendan has talked about using him on the right of the front three .

Is there a potential fee mentioned?

I've heard great things about him. Supposedly one of the best players in the Championship. I admit I never really saw him play in the reserves when he was here.

Do you think he can be effective at this level? Is he as good as Sterling?

The Telegraph are saying there's been high end negotiations with Chelsea for Sturridge and that Rodgers hopes Benitez taking over there doesn't hinder the deal.

He is a good player and did shine in the youth set up but I hope his attitude has changed because he seemed to have abit of an ego and his father seemed to meddle alot too .

Hopefully Benitez will do us a favour and not sell him to us.

Did I read at some stage that we've some sort of a buy back clause on Ince or was that rubbish?

Like you I didn't see him but he knows how to score in the Championship (did so again tonight) so for the money being asked (minus 35%!) he wouldn't be a bad 3rd/4th choice striker/winger. 10 goals in 16 games this season.

Imagine the amount of those little flags he'd be pelted with if he sold ANYONE to Liverpool.

Had a dream he got Chelsea relegated, walked out into the center circle of Stamford Bridge, unbuttoned his shirt, al-la Superman, to reveal a red shirt, picked up Torres, like Lois Lane and flew back to Anfield.

Then I woke up to Darren bent rumours. Stronger than coffee, they were.
