    Hello,

I have a Nokia Lumia 800 that only runs Windows Phone 7 OS. I like my phone very much and the OS as well. I am even developing an app for WP7 according to the followings: http://www.voip-sip-sdk.com/p_511-windows-phone-platform-voip.html. I really would like to get a Windows Phone 8 OS device and it will probably be a Nokia Lumia 920. It is nice to discuss things about this phone on this forum. I have not gone through the entire post but I am sure you heared about the random reboots on WP8 devices (http://www.techradar.com/news/phone-and-communications/mobile-phones/early-windows-phone-8-adopters-reporting-random-reboot-issues-1113483). Hope it is only a minor issue and will be solved as soon as possible.

Presume just using Deadmau5 to launch the new Lumias like the last time!

Yeah probably a new colour for the new Lumias which you won't be able to get until next Spring.

Start of February would sound about right.

This really pisses me off. AFAIK, all new W8 devices support LTE/4G, not just the Nokias, yet the HTC is already in the shops and the Samsung is coming very soon. I am holding out for the 920 as I want it to replace my P&S camera/800 combo I use now and don't care for LTE. Microsoft should be really leaning heavy on all the OEMs to get their stuff onto the shelves while the whole launch buzz is still ongoing

Yeah it's disappointing networks don't want to stock anything else but black and white and occasionally pink

What do you guys think of this site...... seems to be cheaper than a lot of others.

If they ship here you'll have to pay VAT and customs duty on it.

Wasn't there something about Nokia having different warranty regions - to the effect that a phone bought in the Middle East wouldn't be covered for repair here ?

Hmm thats a bit worrying. Does anyone know if I buy an unbranded/unlocked 920 in the states will it work fine over here? Going to be over in January, doesn't seem to be any bricks and mortar stores selling it sim free yet but I'm hoping by January there will be?

Just a heads up, I bought one directly from a Microsoft store and AT&T refused to unlock it, claiming they had no code for the phone nor would they be getting one even though it was an AT&T phone and I was told 4 times by AT&T that they would unlock it. Had to return it an hour later. They'll stick to the 6 months exclusivity.

If you know someone with AT&T already they might be able to help you out. But it's a lot of work.

Nah I couldnt live with the horrible branding they put on phones over there so definitely not getting one locked to At&T, Verizon etc. I remember reading the exclusivity deal for the carriers was only until the end of the year so hoping unlocked/unbranded version is freely available by the time I get there in late Jan?

Clove have it up again. They are expecting them 1st week of December.

Decisions, decisions - works out same price as a 16GB iPhone, just don't know whether to make the leap or not.

Lumia 920 both black and white priced at 750 euro on Expansys.ie and expected stock on the 4th of December

Nokia sell 2.5 million units in first 20 days

Seems Nokia massively underestimated demand. They are launching in China in December too which means it will probably be Spring before it is widely available.

They can add one more to that. Although I won't be getting my handset til Jan 20, it is simfree and cost free so that's nice. I had a look at the HTC 8x last night, it's really nice, screen is beautiful

Nokia Ireland will be announcing these next week.

I posted a couple of times about my impressions of the 920 after a couple of weeks with it.

One thing I didnt mention that has impressed me more and more is the display.

"Retina" be dammed this thing is way way better. I remember with my old iphones when the back on the display was up against the black of the case you could see the display "black" was really a light grey.

But with the Lumia 920 its so Black that it almost blends in with the case colour, and as a result makes all the other colours look far more vibrant. It really is impressive.

    Just a thought.

Won't be coming to Meteor anyway. Confirmaed by a rep on their forum.

Couldn't care at this stage. Ever since September their service got so crappy with outages and slow down downs or no service on data side of things made me leave them.

Customer care are treating it this like the way it's supposed to be...

Meanwhile my S3 keyboard continues to drive me ducking crazy...

Tbh Metoer have been pretty good for me, except for coverage in my house. I don't want to leave them though, as most of my friends are Meteor, and I'm still on a Family & Friends offer. How much could I get for a Galaxy Note 2 (unopened)?!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,911 ✭✭✭✭ShadowHearth

Even if it will be announced ( which is good ), its still a 750eu device :(.

I presume O2, will be getting it?

I've never met someone who's been happy with Meteor, so it might be a good thing? I hope it comes to Vodafone, or that unlocked ones are available

I hope it will be close enough to the American carrier pricing. 450-500 euro would be great

It would be more than great, it would be perfect. But, if being Irish has taught me anything, it's that everything here is way more expensive. $650-$700 translates to roughly €650 - €700 here :(

They're due stock of Black, White and Red on the 5th of December so hopefully I've secured a Red 920

Have picked up a White Lumia 800 from Emobile for €149 to keep me going the next fortnight or so and to get accustomed to Windows Phone and so far so good with the 800,
