Can you post a link to that?

Sorry typo...:o:) I meant clove.co.uk from the earlier link.
I can buy exVAT. That's where the €567.15 comes from.

    820 on expansys 560eu... Woooooow

Nokia is a bit out of touch with reality.
You can get a Lumia 800 for €149. Far, far better value than an 820 at that price.

Yeah, great price, not Windows 8 though so why bother?!

I have yet to see any significant end-user OS improvements that WP8 provides over WP7. Also, all apps developed on WP8 should come to WP7 too.

I would consider the tile-resizing, lock screen improvements, kids corner, NFC and Skype integration to be significant? And as we all unfortunately know, Windows Phone 7 will only get one more update (7.8) before being abandoned. WP8 will be the update path from here on in, with (hopefully) more and more updates over the next year.

And in fairness to MS, the HD7 I use right now running 7.5 is practically a different phone compared to the one I bought in Oct 2010 running WP7, so they have good form for providing significant updates.

Somehow I really don't think that 7.8 will be the last ever update. Just because Nokia's bringing out new budget tango phones. I mean they must have an upgrade path to something after they get 7.8

Re: Charging plate freebie for AT&T US orders.

I just got this email from At&T:

"Thank you for your recent purchase from www.att.com.

As you may have heard, for a limited time AT&T is running a promotion for a free Nokia Black Wireless Charging Plate with orders of the Nokia Lumia 920. The charging plate should have been shown as included when you placed your order.

The charging plate accessory will be shipped in a separate order at no charge.

    We appreciate your business.
    "

Some good stuff there, no doubt. But is it really worth paying more than €400 (that is to get the Lumia 820, nevermind the 920) for these improvements?

If you don't mind spending a lot of cash for the latest and greatest, then by all means get a new WP8. Although remember, less than one year ago, lots of folks here were buying the Lumia 800 at launch for €500, today they are selling for €150 without a contract. Even for a phone, that is eye-watering depreciation and it would not surprise me that the latest WP8 phones could see similar results.

I think the smart value is getting the Lumia 800 for 1/3rd of the price of the WP8 models, while still enjoying 90% of the WP8 experience.

Wont they be available in Ireland from one of the phone carriers for a subsidized price like in the US?
They're only $99 (half the price of an iphone) with a 2 year contract here (you pay it off over the life of the contract though).

    Considering the 16GB iPhone 5 is € 919.99 , the € 754.99 32 GB Lumia 920 price isnt bad.

Both of those are initial pricing points, once demand dies down they will both fall down to around 600 I pressume.

Though I dont understand why is expansys selling Fruit Phone 5 at that price when apple themselves have it for 679

I reckon if I don't find it for a price I'm willing to pay before xmas that I'll probably be giving this phone a miss until it drops to a very cheap price

The 800 is cheap but I expect app development to move away from WP7 over time.
Especially games, new ones are likely to be written using Direct X and native code rather than XNA.

Look at Angry Birds Star Wars WP8 version on the same day as Android and iOS.
WP7 version may appear at some time in the future but is clearly the second class citizen.

This is not actually true, Angry Birds Star Wars was ready to be released for WP7 but it was held back by Nokia as they wanted it to work on the budget phones and not be limited to the high end WP7 device's like the original Angry Birds. :)

God, I don't think "price isn't bad", is what one should use to describe this phone. It's insane.

...and looking at all the other top sellers it's pretty clear that the ones who paid that sky high price may have been a bit on the fanboy side of things :pac:

I really want this phone, but i'm not crazy :D

Seems to be a big discrepancy between expansys UK & Irish Prices

I can buy one from expansys.com for £555 which at 80p to € is €689 but if I order from expansys.ie its €764....difference of €75. That's taking into account VAT rates etc

What the hell is that about?

The 920 will be available on the networks (don't know which) here from January.

If that would be the case then Ativ S id definetly going to be my next WP8.

Memory is foggy but did the 800 launch in december 2011 or Jan 2012?

January, I wanted it from the better half for crimbo, to no avail.

Although I did want it on O2 so unless it was with Vodafone before that?
