Cars with broken lights

Tonight, I drove a two hour journey from Clonmel to Kildare and I counted 12 cars with either one broken headlight with only their low beam on or with one full beam on.

Why the F""K can't people be more considerate and get these bloody things replaced?

I just don't understand how anybody can continue to drive around despite the fact that they are as cheap as chips to replace.

But this is it!!!! They really are. It's one of my pet hates! A bulb can cost anything from €3 to €6 depending, and takes seconds to fit, so I really, really don't understand why they don't bother their arse changing them. I check every bulb on the car twice a week. If a bulb is gone, I change it straight away. It really isn't difficult. Most people just don't care or couldn't be bothered.

But what about the people that use parking lights while driving?? Are they afraid of using their headlights? Like it might use way more petrol/diesel or something?

Yeah it's a pain in the hoop alright. Another thing is these ultra bright bluish, glarey lights that all the boy racers/ car enthusiasts/ wankers have now. Instead of a beam that can be dipped and doesn't blind you these assholes have a pair of ridiculous fucking solar flares burning a hole in you retinas.

I never notice stuff like that when I'm driving, usually too busy texting or something.

Wasnt it made illegal a while ago to drive with non functioning lights?

Well I would call them ****, I've called them a lot worse too. Dying in a fire while impaled on a shitty stick is too good for them, they deserve real pain.

What the fuck has being young got to do with having dickhead lights on your car?

We all know that strictly speaking we are meant to check our lights regularly especially if we are intending on driving a long journey.

But seriously how often do any of ye do it?? The reality is that it is very easy to drive with faulty lights without realising it - I have done it myself until I have been told by friends that I have a break light or even a headlight missing. Don't be so hard on these people - they probably are unaware that they have broken lights. yes I know they should check their lights regularly but seriously - do ye all really do this yourselves?????

Bulbs are cheap to buy, but replacing them can be a pain in the ass on some car models- I've heard it can take over an hour to change one bulb on a Renault Megane. Mind you, it only takes about two minutes on my car.

Big blinding blue headlights that basically leave me blind for a couple of seconds when they approach me - bit of a problem for me and something people should get worked up about tbh if you ask me, to try and get the Gardai to actually enforce the rules to ban the ****ing yokes.

Other mods to cars don't affect other drivers so wouldn't mind them as much but if your lights are leaving every driver who you meet on the road dazzled being young and doing silly things is no excuse whatsoever.

how the f**k do you not notice a headlight not working? I had a headlight lamp blow once, while driving from Cork to Waterford and it was like driving with one eye closed. (Also, bulbs are something you plant in the ground. Lamps are what provide light from a light fitting.)

I thought it was mandatory to have at least one malfunctioning light when driving in Ireland.

I had a blown bulb recently and stopped on applegreen on the m1 and the had no h1 bulbs so I continued on and The next garage had none either. So I had a rant at the cashier who I know full well its not his fault and went on my merry way. So yea. 24 hr garages not carrying a decent selection of car consumables is a problem

I wonder how could you solve that problem? Here's the solution buy extra light bulbs and keep them in your car ;)

This is quite true, most service stations are really petrol stations now.

A lot of them don't even have air hoses anymore and if they do they are usually broken.

Need a requirement for service stations to have these things to be allowed to be 24 hour stations IMO.

Tesco are the worst offenders on this one I think.
