You can change the bootlogo and the radio background logo on these by the way (confirmed).

For those who were sick of that dvbxtreme logo!

Example - My radio logo background

How do you do that STB?

When I set up the Startup channel on my 250 to RTE1 Terrestrial and save. Then when I power it up again from standby I get a "No Signal" indication. Then I try the white button to see if the terrestrial channel has been found and it tells me that it is looking at "Arabsat" . Does anybody know what might be wrong in setting up the startup channel to RTE1 and getting this

In System Setup, go to Startup Channel and turn it off.

When it boots up it automatically remembers the last channel viewed.

I used 2 pieces of software. One to create M2V files from two JPEGs which are the pictures at booting stage (bootlogo) and the radio background picture (radiologo).

Then I used a patcher which embeds them in the firmware dumpfile with existing channel lists I had taken from the box originally.

I will post links and instructions if you are interested in doing it yourself.

It never ceases to amaze me the amount of people who cant see beyond it is "the boxes fault" rather their own cabling aerial type and positioning.

I live 57km from Mount Leinster, I have a solid signal that never deteriorates and I am using an indoor aerial! I must be lucky given I have 3 from the Ariva range and dont experience these problems.

Take it away from the box and look at your aerial setups etc. There is a quite simple reason for your issues.

Im in Dublin 15, dont know how far away that is, but Im just using Rabbit years bought in Lidl 4 about a tenner and I get good reception too

how come we got to keep updating the software to get these to keep working ...Ferguson need to realise that as adults we will change the password function to our own when we originally buy the box so they dont need to worry about kids getting access to stuff they shouldnt be watching and is that why they keep taking them off the air or is it that youporn goes off the air or is it a bigger problem altogether.
..... it would be nice for the weather app etc to work aswell . google maps and youtube is all that is working now on my box, and sometimes vimeo but as you say what can we do only wait for a new update and maybe some extra apps on there while they are at it

Am I being blind or is there:

    1. No 'previous programme' button on the remote?

    2. No way to tell when you're actually recording?

Because the sites themselves are changing stuff constantly which affects the youporn API etc

    1. The back button will do this for you/

    2. Red light on box screen.

Thanks but that calls up a list of recently viewed channels that you then move the cursor to and select, I was just wondering if there was a single button that let you hop back and forth, no big deal really...

Never noticed the red light on the front either, thanks.

Pressing the back button and then Okay will switch between the last 2 channels you were watching. Similar to a one button recall button but with 2 key moves.

Have to agree. I'm in city centre using an indoor aerial and HDMI cable. Signal strength is only at 29% but no problems. Very happy with the box.

Pressing back twice in quick succession also works... at least on my 120 - may work on the 150/250 also if the remotes are similar!

They need to sort it so you can bring channel lists from older versions. That's the 4th update since I got this in about 4 months I hate scanning channels! Anyone have a changelog for this one?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 42 MickserB

I have used an older chan file on mine and it works, up to you if you want to do the same, some say not to, but I am starting to suspect it causes the box issues in other ways

    Changelog
changed service provider for "weather online"
    - distinguished service Web TV
    - Improved API of all online video
    - added service check results of the last 10 football games
    - Improved recording timers in the background - mainly Combo models
    - and other

'- Improved recording timers in the background - mainly Combo models'

What do you think that means? The one I got has been pretty flawless recordings-wise Ive found.

I tried an older channel list on mine after the upgrade and the EPG doesn't appear.

Apart from the DTT chans, there is no EPG on these, only now and next on Sat......

I know, but I am getting no EPG entries at all for any channel, Irish or Satellite after upgrade and importing the channels from the previous version. I went back to my backup dump and it is all OK again.

That is because you cannot use previous channel lists (Dumpfiles) as the channel lists also cross contaminate the new firmware with some of the old.

It clearly states this in the text file. I have warned before about using channel lists from previous firmware versions as it undoes what the new firmware is trying to do - cleanse the box to make the running of it smoother. Ferguson have now confirmed by earlier suspicions.

If you do not use the "entertainment" functionaility - youtube, youporn etc, well then you dont need to upgrade, although I note that a user in this thread has commented on quicker zapping of channels. For the most Ferguson are chasing their own tails as long as website owners deliberately move their websites around.

I brought in the channel list from the previous version and everything was ok after, including the web tv stuff that was fixed in this update. No problem with the EPG either.

Before I upgraded the firmware I loaded my channel list into the ArivaEditor and exported them out again. I then upgraded the firmware with allcode + booloader, did factory reset, then loaded the channels with userdb.

I'm not saying this is the right way to do it, just that it worked for me and I didn't see any of the problems mentioned above.

    Hope this helps!

It's a pity they don't provide a facility on the editor on the PC to export the channel only to a text file and then import it to the bin files using the editor after a firmware upgrade. Using the following steps
    1. Do a dump of the current set-up on the STB to USB
    2. Bring to the editor and export the channel list to a text file
    3. Upgrade the STB to newer firmware
    4. Do a dump on the STB to USB
    5. Bring to the editor and import the text file with the channel list
    6. Save it and bring back to the STB to burn it.

Ariva 250 Channel List including firmware version 1.20B6. (do not put on a Ariva 150 or 120)

Download this file and put on a USB stick.
Choose upgrade by USB. Select Allcode+Bootloader. File displayed will be "Dumpfile STB 7-11-12". Click to start and let it get to 100%. The box will reboot.

    FTA Channel Lists included
    (Astra 1N, 2)
    • Saorview & Satellite (Ordered including Aertel)
    • Music
    • News
    • Kids
    • Sky Channels $ (alphabetical)
    • All Channels (alphabetical)
You will need to rescan your Saorview channels for your area and add to your Saorview & Sat list.

changelog: Youtube/Dailymotion/Vimeo/Weather Forecast/RSS Feeds/WebTV/Google Maps all working in version posted. Also new feature called Football score which gives the last 10 results. Also I added a different Bootlogo and Radiologo.

Am I right in saying that teletext will not work on this box at all other than TV3 and TG4?

Yes it will. I have added it as a channel in the channel list. You just press the text when on the Aertel channel.

Youtube/Dailymotion/Vimeo/Weather Forecast/RSS Feeds/WebTV/Google Maps all working in version posted. Also new feature called Football score which gives the last 10 results.
