Thought this was a great article from Tim Stillman on the Arseblog.
Super article, should have its own thread here. Sometimes you need to read something like this to remind you of reality and what it's all about!

I changed as a supporter when I started bringing my young lad to games it all became about how we enjoyed it! I'm a much narkyer supporter on the couch!

Think someone on this said we've only won one of our last fifteen games refereed by him. Probably my least favorite ref, has such an annoying arrogance about him.

on the other hand, I read somewhere that in his last 3 matches at OT, United have lost 2 of them.

Anyone see these rumours that Wenger and Bould aren't seeing eye to eye over the team and Bould doesn't have the control over the defence we think he has? Saw it on Newstalk

Yes it was Arsenal's favourite son Stewart Robson who started that little beauty. If true it's good in a way as apparently RVP didn't want Bould appointed as he would be too much of a "yes" man.

Arsenal are 4/1 to win tomorrow, thats a great price IMO, I can really see them taking this one. I'll be an Arsenal fan for 90 mins anyway

Have only watched one of our games up there since we were robbed on 49 games unbeaten. I still get very angry about that game. Not sure if I'll take tomorrows one.

Can't see us winning tomo tbh. Fergie always knows exactly how to play against us, the two games against United are always two I pretty much write off at the start of the season as losses (used to do the same with Chelsea, although Drogbas gone now!).

    3-1 United I reckons

Utd's game to lose. Already have visions of Rooney dropping deep, spreading the ball out wide with their wingers ripping us apart on the counter.

A 1-1 will be a huge result for us

Would love a draw but just can't see it

A draw would be great at this point, but I can see United turning up the heat and beating us 3-1.

They've both been pretty quiet of late. No better time for them to spark into life and show RVP what he's missing.

My feelings about this game change on an hourly basis. I'd take a draw, we have it in us to win, depends which Arsenal shows up.

Really feel this comes down with how our axis of podolski/santos do, I'd say utd will target there right hand side big time

We tend to perform better when the expectations are low. Think of our run to the CL final, nobody expected us to get past the quarters. A couple of seasons ago we were written off in the league but ended up leading. As soon as expectations rose, we fell. Likewise with the CC final too. We werent really expected to win but when we got to the final we suddenly became the favourites. Whenever we've won the league, the expectations next season do be higher and we fall apart.

United being heavy favourites may work to our advantage.

An Arsenal win and a close up of RvP post match would make me walk around with a big smile for the weekend.

    I've had a great week.

Nearly finished a proposal I've been working on for the last 3 weeks. Meeting someone tomorrow about a new project. Saw Jack White blow the roof off the o2. Dressed up as Moone Boy with me mate. Got some free shots in the bar because of the costume. Met a lovely lady on Hallowe'en as well. ;)

    And tomorrow we play United.

    F*ck.

    :pac:

I'd settle for a good performance I can be proud of, no matter what the result is. I just don't want to feel embarrassed tomorrow.

    +1

I think what the team needs to do is to give a decent account of themselves. TBF, it will take a miracle for us to win tomorrow unless ManU implodes which they dont usually do and even when they do they regroup & resurrect towards the end to win in most cases.

It is going to be one emotional game given the history between both teams but also with the saga of RVP now playing for the other side. I will hope for a draw or a slim loss at worst, but we never can tell what the mindset of our boys will be- they might just play some mad football tomorrow and just surprise us all- well most of us I'd say.

Our team is capable of beating a lot of teams on our day. Uniteds midfield imo is not as strong as ours. If we can dictate midfield and deliver some sort of ball to Giroud we can cause an upset tomorrow. It'll be a cup tie atmosphere I feel and it could work to our advantage, it might keep our players focused.

As long as Ferguson is at United they'll always have the edge on us. Hate playing them, even when I consider Arsenal to have the better team they can end up tearing us one! A draw is a must, but we really need the 3 points.

Feel I'm in a similar boat to you. Passed me driving test, got myself a job, posted my best score ever on a golf course, experienced that incredible Reading game and also saw Jack White blow the roof off the O2.

We're due this win the way things are going!

I agree with you but there is a difference between capability and actual performance though. Like you rightly mentioned, United has a shaky midfield and I will add a porous defence as well that some teams have already taken advantage of. However, their attack is far better than ours and most teams in the EPL.

I am just going by logic here, our goalkeeping and defense is very suspect and we dont have good finishers. We might 'possibly' outplay them in the midfield but how would we deal with the certain counter- attacks without them resulting into goals? By heavens, I pray we win and it is a possibility but I feel it is unlikely. I will be happy with a draw- that will be fantastic imo.
