    Saw a few new ambulances around galway lately all marked intermediate care. Whats the difference from an emergency ambulance ?

    Intermediate care vehicles are used primarily for lower acuity calls and routine patient transfers. Their crewed by EMT's whereas emergency ambulances are crewed by paramedics and advanced paramedics.

    Exactly as The Predator has posted. These are being bought in to free up emergency ambulances to cover emergency calls as opposed to what's happening at the moment where you'll have highly trained & exp crews being tied up on non urgent 999 calls as well as routine transfers.

    A long time waiting for this service to come into play. Better service for patients!
