Twist/Screw Mechanism On Pipe To Secure Pipe Inside Larger Pipe

I'm not an engineer myself so looking for ye're expertise here. I want to know if a mechanism exists that when you place a pipe inside a larger pipe you can then start turning a mechanism on the smaller pipe which starts making this smaller pipe wider and eventually fitting it inside the larger pipe. Apologies if there is a glaringly obvious solution to this. Cheers.

Depends what you want to achieve, you could freeze one pipe and heat the other if they're a close fit. Or else something like a drill chuck comes to mind but you might have to machine it yourself.

Yes it can be done. They do exactly this to repair a cooling pipe one the BMW v8 engine, without removing the front of the engine. The pipe is cut out and a new two piece pipe is inserted in the gap. Then it twists /expands to fill the gap and seal at each end...
