Shamefully, I got into the Beatles quite late.. and still have the White Album and Abbey Road to listen to, which is exciting.

Oh, how I wish I could listen with fresh ears again. I remember the first time I listened to Revolver, in the dark. But listening with ears that have heard all the little things in each song is also good. The White Album is such a great mixture of odd/brilliant songs, great for "The Beatles did that?" moments. Ha, nobody does demented like the Pixies.

Incidentally, I think Revolver was the first Beatles album I laid ears on. Got to Get You Into My Life was a fitting first favourite. I've been meaning to listen to TWA for months now, but I no longer have the patience to sit through double albums for some reason.. Probably down to broadband and the fact that I now play music from iTunes instead of CDs these days, bleh. Will try to amend this travesty soonish.

Another good cover is The Breeders taking on Happiness Is A Warm Gun. (I have a thing for covers (of good songs)).

Listen to the albums in mono if you can, it's the best. TWA is probably the only real "grower" in the Beatles catalouge, because it has so many different styles. Took me years before I could admit I liked The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill. Anyway, fanboy, over and out!
