That's a great find. Really nice alloys too. Even if they're reps, they'd still fetch a good few hundred quid on their own I'd say?

Been following this post for over 6 weeks, im buying my first car, this thread has came up with great suggestions, i will end up making my own thread asking what a best 1st car would be, Insurance isn't exactly a problem but i don't want to spend over 1000€, i wouldnt exactly know a good deal if one was flat in front of my face.

Buy the kalos above for 2 k and get 5 years trouble free motoring out of it , less then the cost inc depreciation of running a good road bike if you don't include fuel.

Perfectly calculated and timed NCT for a car like this!
15 months NCT exactly. Definitely gives the car its best chance of making a decent price

Have you allowed for unplanned repairs in your budget? If not, you should spend a max of €800 on the car and keep €200 in reserve for that.

I didn't really think of that thanks Esel, i do know a mechanic so i be able to get the small things fixed cheap, i almost bought a Citreon Xsara 03 hatchback last week, it was 500 euro and i was told i would need to put about 200 euro into it,the car is still for sale if i want it but im unsure, i would probably get it for 400-450,looking online best price for the same car going is about 1200 euro, im still debating it, so having the extra 200 would come in handy when buying a car, thanks, its noted :)

    6 months NCT
    6 months Tax
Try knock off another €50 and at €400 it's a sweet enough little car. Not exactly my dream car, but I'd drive it! :D

Another one with 6 months test
1 litre petrol, so tax would be €185 for the year

    [EDIT]Sorry! Just noticed it's sold already![/EDIT]

    Last one before bed!
€500 and with 4 months NCT
Passed the NCT only 3 months ago.
Odds are, it could be put through again in a few weeks and get NCT to 2014

This reminds me of one time when I was leaving Jonesboro going down the hill towards the Crrickdale holtel and I saw a red one of these, with an incredibly large balding gentleman squeezed in the drivers seat, kangerooing up the hill :pac::pac::pac:

Assumong there is no major hidden surprizes, this has got to be worth a shot.

The miles aren't too high. Looks well maintained for an ex-taxi.
    Loads of Tax & Test.

You would have to ask the question why is he selling when it was only taxed last July.... but still...!

i reckon that avensis is on its money being an ex-taxi. you'd probably get a similarly taxed, tested, lower mileage one privately owned one for a similar price range.

and i'm out :P the way you were talikng i was expecting it to be an old 1.9d engined one.

Ah... Figured there must be a catch.
Does that mean it has no tax as a private car?

To be honest it was the tax till July that swung me. Assuming its psv tax, that kind of takes from the bargain.

Not sure you'd get a privately owned one taxed till next July asking €800.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,338 ✭✭✭brembo26

Well it is taxed and fully legal. But if a private buyer buys it they are supposed to tax it as a private vehicle and pay the full rate.

Something I wouldnt be doing :pac: The way I look at it is if its taxed its taxed :p

    *Awaits bashing*
