Recommendations for a diesel

The sister is looking for a new car,she has 11k to spend,its got to be a diesel.She's interested in A3's, any worthwhile suggestions?Nothing French or Italian though,wouldn't go down well with the father,lol

Funnily enough I suggested a Focus or 320d to her,the Civics look a bit meh though in standard guise imo.

I had a 2.0 140bhp a3 as a rental and wasn't overly impressed. Can't imagine anyone being pleased with shelling out 9k for an almost 7 year old one with the agri 1.9.
Would your sister chance a 407 coupe? Bummer, just read first post again, no French.

It's the 2.0 model if I'm not mistaken. The car has to look well, she's a professional where impressions count.I guess that is why she's keen about getting an A3.
