Eircom.net FTP problem

    Ok I have my 20mb free webspace with eircom.net
    I have one problem I cant connect to the ftp server

    I have tried different ftp programs

    settings server myname.eircom.net

    user myname

    password *******

    i get the following error

    Error 11004 (Valid name, no data record of requested type) finding address for host
    Reconnecting - try #4
    Error 11004 (Valid name, no data record of requested type) finding address for host
    Reconnecting - try #5
    Error 11004 (Valid name, no data record of requested type) finding address for host
    Reconnecting - try #6
    Error 11004 (Valid name, no data record of requested type) finding address for host


    My username and password are correct as I got the same errors from an old account but I setup a new account and im still getting the same errors


    Has anyone got any ideas on what im doing wrong?

    BTW in using port 21

    You should be FTP'ing to homepage.eircom.net

    Thanks Frank Im getting close to it now but Im let with this error now

    Are you connected to Eircom when you're trying to FTP? The FTP server's IP restricted.

    I presume you looked in their tech support website ?

    dont think they allow ftp access with the free service

    they do indeed. thats what I use, via cuteFTP.

    Frank_Grimes is right, you DO have to be dialled into the Eircom system to use their ftp.

    feckers so thats why i could never get access via ftp
