Are there any exams for first years during 2012

    I am a first year student at TCD. As far as I know, there are no exams during 2012 for me, but I am applying to something which involves an interview abroad. Could anybody tell me if there is anything I should be aware of, so I know when I am not available for interview?

    I have not yet been allocated a tutor and am writing the application process now, which is why I ask here. I'm sure some students who have completed first year will know.

    Which course? Most courses won't have exams until the summer 2013, but some courses have Christmas tests.

    Pretty sure it's just courses like medicine that have Christmas tests, the list is short anyway. I've never heard of maths having any.

    Check your course handbook, it should say whether you will have Christmas tests; if possible check your module guides as well, I ended up having a Christmas exam in a subject that wouldn't usually have one, the information on which was buried in the module handbook rather than the general course handbook.

    Or if all else fails just ask in your department office?

    I haven't heard of Christmas exams for maths, the ones I've heard of are medicine & economics.

    Engineering had just one test for Christmas and that was Maths.

    During the BESS course meeting we were told we'll be having some tests in Week 8 (for Economics module I think).
