I'm flying on Friday to Faro with FR so I have to check in online and print my boarding cards. I remember last year or possibly 2010 seeing somebody use their iPhone as a boarding card, problem is, I can't remember if I was waiting on an AL or an FR flight at the time! Does anybody know if it can be done with FR? I nearly always have a problem with my printed boarding pass not scanning properly.:)

errr remember the woman that caused the news recently because she created a facebook page after being charged the daft charges because she didn't print her boarding passes .....

Well she had the PDF's on her phone , but FR basically ignored them

Paper or nothing I am afraid with FR

Some airlines have smart passes, where you have a barcode loaded to your phone that can be used , but FR is not one of them .

You have to remember FR tear off a strip , and use that to count the passengers ( or did when I last flew them about a year ago )

Cheers Dave, I suspected it'd be too easy alright. I don't think FR even have an app (I could be wrong).
Ah well, I'll just have to print out paper ones so.

Ohh it has an APP ... ( you pay for it )

But I don't think it counts as a boarding pass

A guy in front of me boarding an Aer Lingus flight to Frankfurt recently had this. I'd never heard of the option before, seemed very handy.

Aerlingus, BMI and BA have check in boarding cards for your phone. Very handy.

Ryanair you have to print it off

Easy Jet have an app for for a boarding pass, as do southwest and Virgin America. All budget airlines. I dont see why Ryanair cant do it?

I think it's because they don't use computers at the gate.

If you watch their boarding they basically tear off a strip , then manually count them.... possibly to save on hardware

Do SITA still own / run most of the computer systems at the airports ? Perhaps FR have not joined the SITA club ?
