Interesting story with that CL600, it was owned by a neighbour of mine whose wife drives a 2008 318i estate.

    His new car is a 12 D 520d..... :D

I was looking for a free offline sat nav thingy for my phone for a while and started using this app called navfree. Does exactly what I wanted here and is just as good as wise pilot etc I'd imagine. I'd recommend it as its so handy for a back up

Yeah i've used that for a while too and its pretty good for a free app.

I'd say once my mam buys an Iphone 5 and gives me her 4 I'll grab that, I tried one or two before on my 3G (not even S) and they just wouldn't work right, far too slow.

It's fairly boring tbh as its just a Diesel Family car but it's a step up from what I was driving, It's a 12 Fluence 1.5DCi, it does however have a few toys that I think I'll like such as Cruise Control, Bluetooth, Keyless entry and Start.............

Happy out, safe motoring with it :)

Cruise control is very handy, I use it most days heading in along the Lower Glanmire Rd and similar places where it's all too easy to speed.

Thanks :). The main thing will be getting used to the difference in the clutch in the Diesel compared to Petrol.

Yeah, the auld NavFree ain't bad. Used to use it a fair bit myself. If you can stretch to €1.79, I'd go for Skobler. It just works a wee bit better, interface is much smoother. At least on the iPhone.

And if you have an iPhone, the new apple maps are being provided by Navteq (TomTom), and are including there HD Traffic with it, which is a damn nice feature.

Search for Dublin Zoo on Apple maps and see where it brings you.

I reckon after a day or so you'll be well used to it, with all the torque you need hardly any revs in a diesel for a normal getaway. Years ago I bumped a car up a slightly inclined gravel drive using my diesel Mondeo without using any accelerator at all :)

Is that for an A grade part worn? They have 3 grades iirc, A,B & C.
    I bought two 225 45 18s Grade A Bridgestones off them for €70 each a month or so ago. 225 45 18s are a tad dearer than 225 40 18s admittedly but not hugely.

James, have you ever driven that 1.5DCi Renault engine?? LOL Last summer, we rented a Megane estate in Portugal with that engine and I can tell you, the last thing it had was torque!

Did you get Tyreland to fit those for you or did you get them fitted locally to you? I'm seriously thinking about buying from them but only if I can get them fitted around here, otherwise I'd use the money I'd save on petrol going up to them and just buy new ones.

Drove a Clio that had it, a 2005 one iirc. In comparison to a petrol Clio there'd be loads of torque :)

Tyreland fitted them for me, was up there anyway, flew to Milan from Dublin.

No idea to be honest I'd be getting them fitted so didn't ask. That was about 2months ago, if they don't have profile 40 I'll get 35.

Yes that was grade a James I'd only bother with them. I'll ring them Monday to see what they have

There's a spot in the city at the roundabout at the start of centre park Road that does part worn. Might pop in tmrw and see what they have.

Back in paris now, auf weidesehen duetchland, sure everyone of them fookers had them german plates on, very annoying;)

Germany is lovely, their beer is fabulous(no hangover any morning) and everything except petrol is cheap. Everybody was really nice to me!
They are just a touch too law abiding for me, but you cant really knock them for that.

Nissan juke....... In 1.6 petrol form its slower than my 1.5 diesel clio (yes even in sport mode) apart from that its nice enough to drive, it leans over alarmingly when asked to take a sharp bend, but settles down after the initial lurch. Its well equipped, mp3 sat nav etc etc, the reversing camera is completely useless as you would hit something while the camera showed it 2 metres away.

And most important......the max speed is 190km/hr (indicated) that last 10km/hr took about 5 miles to get!;)

And to the taxi driver that got me back to my hotel on thursday night, thankyou! after volksfest, and i dunno how many liters of festbeer, and a trip to the pub with some germans i met, donkeyboy here decided to walk home, got hopelessly lost and was wandering around freising at 4am:D

The only german word you need to know is servus, it means hello, goodbye, excuse me, please and thankyou!

I was in Halfords today, I bought spray paint. I picked up a can that was on the shelf and was half empty. So I walked up to buy a full can of paint and the one that was half empty. The fella behind the till, Picked up the half empty one and attempts to scan it. He failed to scan it as the bar-code was gone, as it had been used before. He left down the half empty can of paint , he then picked up the full one. Scans it and says. Okay thats 19 euro... I interrupted: AH HA! What says he. I explained how one can was half empty and I done it to see, if he would try to sell me a "used" product. So he went and got another full can.

I watched him as he swapped the used can of with a full one and left the half full can back onto the shelf. Which lefft me with two full cans of spray paint, which is what I wanted. :) Halford 0 BUBBLE WRAP 1.

So the moral of the story is, watch the cans of paint people.
