Files still there after re-format.

    I recently re-formatted my laptop (HP Pavilion DV6) and upgraded from Vista to W7. Upon reinstalling i-tunes, it still had my library saved. Wanting to get to the bottom of this phenomenom I did a quick google search and found that the library data was stored in a .itl file. I searched my computer or .itl and the results it gave me showed that not only was the itl file still there but that a few other files, such as preferences for games and such were on my laptop. Games that I HAVE NOT REINSTALLED YET! How is this so? I wiped my HDD when i re-formatted. I know that you can just upgrade from vista to 7, but this is not what i did. I wiped my HDD. Someone please explain, as I am quite annoyed.

    Upgrading from Vista to Windows 7 won't wipe your drive usually, also if you did a clean install many usere files will be moved to a folder on the root of the C: drive Windows.old. But it sounds to me like you upgraded without formatting

    As I said in the OP, I did format the hard drive. I didn't know about the .old folder though. Cheers for the prompt reply.
