Thought this was brilliant when I read it :)

Let's give Giroud some time to find form. It took Bergkamp 8 games, Henry 10 games and RVP 7 years to find form

I don't think he'll be in the starting 11 for Southampton. I have a feeling Wenger will ease him back into the team. He'll probably come on for the last 30 minutes. The guy has only played 2 minutes of football since last season so it could be risky sticking him on from the start.

IMO he's out till comething bad happens or we need to rotate when the CL comes around.

True competition for places means that you might lose your's because you get injured. It's unfair but that's the way it is. There's no way Wenger can even consider dropping Mert or Verm ... and i love Kos ... but the two haven't put a foot wrong yet this season. They are currently undroppable.

It took seven years for RvP to learn how to go out jogging without breaking. I hope diaby is entering a RvP styled renaissance.

He has indeed helped bring up our average for overall easiness on the eyes of a PL team. Maybe we'll win something afterall!

Wilshere should be back by the end of the month according to Wenger watching him training.

He won't be short of midfielders, that's for sure.

He is first name on the teamsheet afterall, god Wenger will be pissed if he gets an injury.

I still think we could have done with a striker though. Hopefully Giroud can score soon, wouldnt want his confidence to drop as it did with Chamakh.

Well that's what could happen if we don't play to his strengths.
Its all good watching him make great runs and affect play like that, but if you don't look for his runs or cross it in to him, his confidence aint gonna grow.
(reminds me of Chamakh always calling for the ball over the top and never getting it, after a while he just stopped calling for it, and eventually stopped trying too).

Wilshere is also going to have to re-earn his place in the team. On current form Arteta, Diaby and Cozorla are undroppable. Wilshere will have to remain patient and build up match fitness via substitute appearances, cup and even reserve matches. Even if he fires on full cylinders, it'll be tough for him to break into that midfield if they continue to play the way they have been.

Isn't it refreshing going in to the international break without worrying our striker will come back f*cked?

Have to say the away fans were superb yesterday, even more so than usual.

I know Liverpool are having a bit of an iffy time at present, but it's very rare they are outsang at Anfield throughout a whole match.

Particular love for the Hey Jude/ Giroud song. Let's hope we're hearing that a lot over the coming year!

For sure, i've no doubt Wenger won't drop anyone from the midfield unless they have clanger.
Having said that its great that we can ease them in whilst giving someone a break after 70 odd mins.
Arteta is a beast he gets around everywhere and never needs subbing.
Really love watching him play, makes it look so easy.

I dunno about that. 90% of the time last season when the ball went over his head he would act like his neck was sore to try and excuse his feeble attempts at jumping. It could be confidence based too I suppose. He strikes me as teh kind of player who makes excuses for making mistakes, like when players pretend to slip when they are beaten for pace or when goalkeepers pretend they stretched a muscle when they take bad kick outs.

I wasn't talking about last season, Chamakh lost it the season before that IMO.
In that first season he showed a desire and hunger to be the focal point of attack, always calling for the ball and hardly getting it (some players just ignored him)
RVP just ruined his confidence IMO, as he realised everything was focused around him and technical passing/goals.
Not a good motivator when you're the Moroccan Andy Carroll.

Gervinho and Walcott both played up top in training all week leading up to the Liverpool
I think there our striker options and chamak will prob be sold

While he needs to earn it when he is ready he is in I have no doubt
Also 3 games in and 3 different players on the right hand side none of them impressed
I reckon Santi will move out there

Anyway I hope this is not a problem till after Xmas and jack can take his time without been rushed

    You could have

    Giroud

    Podolski...Jack...Arteta..Diaby...Santi.

    Rather nice.

think it'd be a shame if cazorla is pushed out wide after how he's started in the middle.

walcott will be back in the team against southampton i think

mertesacker looks like he's always gonna do something to mess up, dragging suarez yesterday - that was a pen. + he can get bullied a lot for a big guy

Yeah i'd rather see Cazorla stay in the middle. Thought Oxlade-Chamberlain did fine yesterday, would rather see him starting ahead of Gervinho or Walcott.

I think the way we are playing this year our 3 behind Giroud are interchangeable and do it quite often.

You see Podolski and Cazorla switch positions a lot so if Wilshere plays AM he will switch to the right quite often (hes played there a bit anyway iirc).

    So it could be:

    Giroud/Walcott
    --Podolski/Gerv---Wilshere/Ramsey/Caz
    Cazorla/Ox--
    Arteta/Coquelin
    Diaby/Wilshere
    Gibbs/Santos--Verm---Kosc/Mert----Sagna/Jenks
    Szszeny/Mannone

Which looks good to me. Ramsey had a very good cameo yesterday, kept possession well, drew a few fouls and just generally gave the team a breather. I think Walcott has been promised a chance up top (speculative but could be true :P) and we're pretty much bound to get a midfield injury by the time Wilshere's fit so we can worry about where Cazorla's gonna be play if we ever get to the position of having a fully fit midfield.

Agree, Cazorla seems more effective in the middle, he gets around so much anyway though.

Yeah its not often you can hear away fans at anfield, i was laughing at the everton are a better team song.

just to say, I know we were fúcking shíte yesterday, but that was as good a midfield performance as I've seen against Liverpool in quite a while.

Diaby and Arteta were ridiculously good, and Cazorla was effortlessly making things happen.

the organisation and work ethic seems like night and day compared to previous seasons; especially at set pieces. it really was like a wall, and we were restricted to speculative efforts.

it's kind of sad that with a world class striker, you'd most definitely have a great shout for the title this year. Giroud has a lot to live up to, but if he can get even 15 goals and a few assists, i think there's enough in Podolski and the rest of the midfield to supplement it.

Cazorla is a dream. you've found your Cesc replacement, no question.

but it is that defence which could get you to towards a shot at the title. you'd have lost to a stupid Stoke or Sunderland goal in the previous weeks and be on 3 points right now if it wasn't for that solidity.

who'd have thought all of that in the midst of the VP debacle?

yeah he did but there's teams that walcott is better suited to playing against than others, ones that'll let him get in behind instead of just sitting deep all the time.

he's nearly the best option arsenal have for this although chamberlain seems quick enough too & could do it

as for a one v one (not for pace but beating the man) situation i'd say walcott is the worst in the wide positions, gervinho & chamberlain are better at it than him

    WITH REPLACEMENTS

Gervinho... Ramsey... Coq... Frimpong... Walcott. and nearly forgot Rosicky.

Agree with you there but I find Gervinho's end product to be worse than Walcott's. Gerv has a habit of just putting his head down and running the ball out of play at least Theo usually gets his crosses away (even if they're not the best crosses a lot of the time).

Well i would like to see Gervinho get a run in the team on the left, he looks like he can play much better on that side.
Podolski could be moved to LF or playing off the striker.
