Coquelin has great potential, I just think for the sake of a loan deal, there's valuable experience to be gained from having someone like Essien around. If you recall for what was arguably our biggest game of the season, Spurs at home, Wenger started Benayoun and Rosicky, and both put in vital performances. I wonder if Coq or Gerv and Ramsey had started would the result have been the same.

There's a lot to be said for having a bit of experience around, especially when backs are to the wall in big games.

    Fair point tbh.

It looks like wenger is gambling hugely on the fitness of diaby, wilshere, and sanga

And haven't a clue his thoughts on the strikers

    This is getting depressing.

De Jong on 120k a week at milan.

    Wages are gone totally bonkers.

Wenger must think there is no one worth value to improve the squad

I'll say nothing until 11pm but the squad is certainly not good enough in strength or depth at the moment. There are plenty of players who could improve the squad.

Listen, if we manage to ship out Bendtner & Chamakh then it's been a good window!!!!
If we don't sign anyone, it will be like Sunderland & Stoke all over again in here.

I highly doubt Wenger is sitting at home with his feet up doing nothing. The problem is he is very limited in what he can do until he clears up some wage. We're not City or Chelsea or even United with a huge wage budget. We need to offload the likes of Bendtner, Chamakh, Arshavin etc so we have wage to offer players.

van Persie and Song's wage would easily have been eaten up by Podolski, Giroud and Cazorla. Probably more in fact. This isn't Football Manager, we can't just sign everyone and forget about wage budgets, especially not at Arsenal. Even City are watching their wage budget this year.

    Can he do that? :D

Okay so we are getting rid of at least two and possibly three strikers today and including VP that is four our first choice altogether and we don't have anyone bar Giroud and to a degree Poldi coming in (wouldn't call him an out and out striker).
I've a feeling Wenger might throw Wallycott up front and see how he gets on. Maybe he could be the new Henry.

Indeed it is not football manager. I keep having to remind myself that Julius Aghahowa & Thierry Henry never really formed a formidable striking partnership in the 04/05 season :(

I really feel sorry for him, Arsenal really destroyed his career. Part of me feels he should still be given a chance. Genuinely thought he would have been a good signing for us this time last year after looking at his record in france.

I hate Football Manager 2011. Here I am watching Chamakh and Park bang in the goals for Arsenal and Newcastle respectively.

Chamakh was way over rated in that. I remember offering him to clubs for £20m and getting dozens of offers. I think he went to Madrid in the end. It made me reconsider but I went with it anyway. Got some revenge on Barcelona too by somehow getting them to sign Almunia for £3m :D

Shame we can't get that kind of money or performances for real :pac:

FM was the only reason I was excited about signing him.

Tony Pulis buys probably one of the dirtiest players in premier lge history in Charlie Adam, I would cry with happiness if they got relegated, real tears and all :D Cant stand Pulis and all that club stands for anti-football brigade

Only 10 more hours to go and not a peep out of us :(:( Looks like Spurs are having a good day, Moutinho and Lloris looking likely to come in there

I hope we do, even though he's been disappointing, we hardly saw him at all last season, and i think RVP knocked him out of joint. :D
And as you say, we need backup even if it's only him.

I know i'm being a bit biased here, but i'd take Chamakh over Carroll anyday.

    Moutinho an excellent signing.

Spurs spending the necessary funds despite not having CL football.
