Was wondering that myself. Maybe cos they get a lot of requests for one thing or another and just have a blanket ban on it no matter how sad the reason.

Must be the most likely reason. I heard Brendan is going to sent a personal letter to the family.

Anyone know why it "isn't possible to use the scoreboard" for Graham O'Connell? Just wondering what the reason might be..

As sad as it is I think they just don't want to set a precedent that could seem them inundated with requests every time an LFC fan goes to the big Kop in the sky.

    @Luis Suarez
All my support for Lucas Leiva. Is a difficult time, but you know that you are not alone! Soon you will be playing again.

The final offer recieved from for #LFC's Charlie Adam was £5m rising to £6.3m through add ons. Not £4m.

Not bad if thats true, making a small loss on what we paid for him

£5m for Adam, according to the BBC. You've done very well there. Nice bit of cash to add to the Clint Dempsey funds.

Adam and Spearing should pay for Dempsey, in terms of fees and wages.

If we can swap Carroll for Walcott I'd say it's been a good window

Perhaps so, but i don't think a quick message to say "RIP Graham, You'll Never Walk Alone" would kill the club. There are enough garbage announcements on matchdays about some guy celebrating his 42nd birthday / Joe celebrating his 8th wedding anniversary. Its not every day a 14 year old Liverpool supporter passes away playing football. Even if not the scoreboard, some other public message, even a note in the programme. Its doesn't mean it has to be done for every adult fan that dies, the odd exception for a child is fine and takes little effort. Such a token can mean a lot to a family.

Its for things like this the term YNWA is so appropriate when it comes to Liverpool. The last few years the term is tossed around like it means nothing...players tweeting "Just had soup and and a sandwich for lunch, YNWA..." Maybe its an unreasonable gripe, i just seem to read it twenty times a day these days.

Anyway, its a sad story, hopefully the family take some small comfort from an official letter, if not at the moment - they must still be in a state of shock- maybe in the months ahead. RIP Graham, there are more important things in life than football after all.

I'm watching some foreign channel here and they are showing saves of the year from last season, half of then are keepers against liverpool.

Why are people suddenly rating Walcott ?

Quite a few of people here seem to want Walcott to join us. I just can't see what he can bring (aside from pace). I would prefer a genuine front man instead. I don't think he will leave Arsenal this window but if he did I would assume its City he will end up.

    Because he's good at football.

His end product really improved last season, he's only 23, he plays in a team that set-up similarly to Liverpool. He can play any of the front 3 positions.

He would be the most frustrating player at the club, no doubt, but I think he'd score goals for us and fit in well in our front 3.

Doesnt seem to matter whats being rumoured as Arsenal have said he has agreed to stay there for now.

24 goals and 22 assists in the last two seasons.

I was always very critical of him over the years (I probably shouldn't of been as he was only a kid at the time) but his end product has improved dramatically.

Of course he's not worth the £100,000 a week that is being reported in the press, but he's a very decent player now.

Well said. I agree 100%. I was just saying what I thought the reason was...I didn`t say I agreed with it.

Yes it is very sad but sadly people of all ages die all the time so where do you draw the line?
Why can't a 92 year old who went to Anfield for 70 years get his name on the scoreboard when he dies too?

    You have to be realistic.

I think a tweet as they have done and a letter going from the manager is a lovely gesture.

Let's see what happens when they get a cash offer for him.

If Walcott doesn't sign a new contract or leave by Friday they face the very real prospect of him leaving for free next summer.

    Bóllox ! That's what I say .

Take the 10 or £15mil and the £100k a week a go to the continent and get a proper striker/finisher .

    That's massive money.

I'd love a bit of Walcott for us. He does be doing them goals and all.

Because it's that simple. Give us some names

I do see your point, although personally i think there is a difference between a 14 year old supporter dying playing football and the 92 year old, its not really a matter or "getting" your name on the scoreboard like a trophy. The odd one-off for a kid would be fine, i don't think it would lead to too much squabbling over everyone wanting their names in bright lights when they die, the club can politely say no to all but the most tragic of cases.

Thats just me though, and maybe you're right and its best just to let no names through the net at all, i don't know.

But it's that easy in football manager.

I'm wary of Walcott. Any time I think of him I see Downing hovering in the background.

It's hardly controversial to state that there's a premium on English players.

If you accept that to be true you're also accepting that players who aren't English are generally better value.

think Dempsey will be a great signing should add goals to the team
id say he will play on Right or Left cutting in for goalscoring opportunities

If we can swap Carroll for Walcott I'd say it's been a good window

From Bergkamp to Henry to Van Persie to...Andy Carroll.

I seriously doubt Wenger is much of a fan.

He meant sell carroll to West Ham or Newcastle and the price of walcott will be in or around the same as swapping them.

A letter from Rodgers, maybe his name announced and YNWA afterwards. That's plenty for anybody.

Just leave it at that. Tasteful, respectful and just right.
