Well I just remember that Llorente was being talked about heading to juve for €20 million so I'm guessing Muniain would be few million below that. Why would Bilbao not want to sell to us? Did we piss them off by bidding for him before?!

Ah no, nothing like that. I meant more of the fact that I doubt they'd want to sell him in general, especially if Llorente is leaving.

Lads Southampton after signing a striker from BSC Young Boys for 3million. Emmanuel Mayuka. This lad looks quality enough and is only 21. Scored 3 goals in the African Cup of Nations playing for Zambia.

Not in that photo he ain't.

Edit - Damn, didn't post the original photo I had which was from last season. You're right, 26.

Warrior kits only started being worn this summer. So unless that was taken before last December then he's 26 in it.

Trying to think of attacking players who made the switch to full back successfully... All I can think of is Stephen Ward, but there must be more?

    Coentrao is another as well.

Few from a bit further back would be the likes of Cafu and Roberto Carlos.

I imagine there is a hat full of examples tbh, a lot better than Stephen Ward too :p

    Riise?

So Walcott for 12 million the big news this morning.. I think I would prefer him over Sturridge for the same price..

Its quite shocking the lack of quality strikers in the premier league
they are a dying breed, the shearers fowlers coles of this world,

Game has moved on to more technical forwards, Rather than instinctive finishers

I was only thinking that the other day. I can't even think of 5 top class out and out finishers in European football. I mean players who are just there to finish and dont contribute much else.

defo Sturridge for me, far more versatile and stronger. theo for all his pace has never been a great crosser of the ball and defensively is non existent. Sturridge did well at bolton and chelsea when given a chance so reckon he could do a job for us

We'd be buying him as a striker, part of a front three I assume. Walcott, Borini and Suarez don't really scream GOALS to me.

Really? Borini scored 10 in Serie A last season in only 26 appearances, Walcott scored 11, and Suarez scored 86 in 110 games for Ajax, and 17 in 39 games last season.

The whole point of playing with a front 3 is that no one player is expected to get the goals. They front three should all chip in, as should the midfielders, it's not as rigid as our old 4-4-2.

I'd still like a greedy goalscorer, but these three would give defences a lot to think about...

I know but if the choice is between the two of them as it looks like I would prefer Walcott as he is a winger who can play down the middle where Sturridge is a striker who seems to be mostly played on the wing.

I like Sturridge, but I would say he's versatile. He gets played out wide, but just goes the same old thing every time. I want him cause he know where the goal is, and we need someone greedy. But Walcott can easily be encouraged to harry defenders and chase the ball - he has the engine to do it. See how Suarez does it, and how Borini did on Sunday. Sturridge could never do that effectively.

    Straight choice -

    Walcott & Sturridge
    or
    Affelay (on loan) and Huntelaar

Yep, me too. I know the other are more future-looking, but we need players who'll work now. We already have players like Borini, Allen, Sterling, Shelvey, Coates who are young enough to feature heavily over many years, so I think some experience and more immediate impact would be better. I think Walcott is also a player for now, but at that cost, I'd rather see it go towards Klaas...

    Can't you reeeeeead???

Although if we offloaded Cole, Adam, Spearing and Carroll, maybe...

    No. Stop.

Are we actually talking about Affelay? Is this even a possibility?

I cant remember where but I read yesterday he has offers from Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs and the choice is his.

Affelay AND Sahin...... oh my word!

I can't see Walcott as realistic. He's leaving Arsenal for one of two reasons - ambition or money.

They're a Champions League club so I doubt he'd drop down to Liverpool if it was ambition, and I don't think we'd offer more than the £80k per week he's supposedly turned down. Then there's our supposed 'sell-to-buy' policy.

City seems a considerably more likely destination since they sold Johnson and won't be signing Sinclair.

This mornings reports say that Afellay is going to Schalke.

Cue meme - "If you are coming to play with Huntelaar...you're gonna have a bad time."

    Go Team Discovery Channel!

Rumours last night that all 4 have ways out. According to some better sources on Twit...

    - We are apparently close to agreeing a fee with Newcastle, just closing the gap.
    - Spearing will defo go.
    - Adam has a couple of clubs interested, but he seems the stubborn type.
    - As for Cole, I don't know how serious the West Ham interest is, I don't think he'd be good value for them. But he's a West Ham kid initially, so there is stock in Allardyce bringing him home...
