    Obviously signing Dembele would be a fantastic bit of business. That really does go without saying. However, the sentimentel fool in me would be gutted for Anderson and Cleverley. That is assuming that the intention would be to line up like this in the middle;
    Carrick
    Dembele

    Kagawa
    .
I felt the same about RVP coming too. Delighted to sign him but felt bad for Wellbeck and Hernandez.
In these two signings I can understand Hernandez and Anderson moving on and would not begrudge them the chance to prove themselves elsewhere but Wellbeck and Cleverley came through the ranks and I suppose I would love for them to be the new Scholes, Neville or Giggs playing for United for their careers.
Do you think we can keep a bench that is so strong content or will we start to see a few want away?

    15m, come on Fergie.

He's holding out for Charlie Adam :pac:

Sure his corners are worth £10m alone! :)

so here is what we have -

Dembele left out of Fulham squad (probably rested IMO)
Spurs reach a deal according to Times.
United in talks about reaching a deal according to BBC.

this sounds like the Berba to united transfer all over.

Spurs have some decent midfielders. If their is truth about them looking for Aderson i would love if we got Sandro as part of the deal. As far as i know he is not first choice but i think he is brilliant.

    Sandro > Anderson

If someone sees a white blanket anywhere near Carrington, this place will explode.

Dembele has said he'd like to play for United or Madrid, the Spanish side got Modric so it leaves us......here's hoping.

It was also reported he wants to play Champions League football, well if he goes to Spurs the only Champions League he will be playing this season will on FIFA or PES

Roger Sterling asked earlier would Dembele be able to do the Carrick role, was that ever answered? I don't have an answer myself. He would be better to have in place of Scholes for the Everton game for example but would be the answer on a regular basis?

Its a genuine question rather than me trying to make out he wouldn't be a good signing!

also if United are not in for him I hope he doesn't join Spurs just to get away from Fulham, i'm not convinced he will have Champions league football any time soon with them.

If he joins Spurs,we'll end up paying over £30 million for him in a couple of years.

What would ye think about Tiote?
Not that I seen any links or anything, just really like him as a player.

We won't even get him. Levy will do everything that he could to sell him to Spanish or Italian club if Dembele wants to leave.

I don't think Dembele would have the same reading of the game or as intelligent positioning as Carrick. Saying that though he is a very comfortable player in possession, and would offer us a lot in terms of combative strength up against the more physical teams.

While we do have some creative options in the middle, we really lack a powerful dominant midfielder who can impose themselves on a game. Dembele would definitely improve us here.

If he could be signed for the reported 15m buyout clause it would be brilliant business IMO. I'd say the ship has sailed on him at this stage though, Spurs look to be really out in front for his signature.

I really like Tiote but he would be no where near as good value as Dembele. I'd say it would take a bit over 20m before Newcastle would even consider selling him.

A note to all - Spurs haven't 'agreed' a fee with Fulham, Dembele has a release fee of £15m. All #mufc need to do is match it.

God Twitter would wreck your head when it comes to transfer talk

I don't think Dembele is as defensively reliable as Carrick, but he is more reliable in that department than Scholes, Cleverley, Anderson or Giggs.

Tries to put an anytime goalscorer treble of Afobe, Graham and Adam Johnson. Missed putting it on by one minute. Pays 15/1.

I swear if Johnson scores I'll flake Paddy Power with a hurley.

Ah sure if that's all we need to do then do it. £15 million is nothing.

am i the only person here that doesnt find them clowns one bit funny at all?!:o

for me, its written by a 15 year old trying to be extra smart, but he is failing miserably.

They're not trying to be funny. They're simply taking ridiculous comments left on the United facebook page and then putting them on Twitter.

I think they're hilarious. The ones after RVP signed are priceless.

That BBC lad Lyndsay (or however its spelt) has said that United were confident of signing a player tonight or tomorrow morning, but he said it wasnt Henriquez.

he wont say though how/why he knows this.

He can play instead of Scholes, Cleverley, Anderson so. One of them can take Carricks place. ;)

I'll be surprised if we sign anyone else before the transfer window closes. I would've thought more of an effort was needed to get a rid of Berbatov and Macheda.

No rush to move on Macheda. He is only a baby in football terms and he can avail of the emergency loan system and go to a Championship club after the window for transfers closes.

    Berbatov is another story.

Haha. After all that its Spurs who have agreed a fee.

:confused::confused: after all what? spurs were heavily linked with him all week and now that they have the 30+million modric money, its no surprise at all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,116 ✭✭✭Professional Griefer

Since they're connected now with Real, and Real were interested , could they have asked Spurs to get him, with thoughts of taking him in a few years if he gets better?

Of course thats probably rubbish and they were interested in anyways, quality player.
