Can't see Chelsea letting him go at all. Alongside Torres he's their only real out and out striker and they've still to replace Anelka and Drogba.

Would hate to sign Sturridge, and to do so for big money wouldd be stupid.

Horribly overrated player in some quarters imho.

Only saw that clip of Rodgers and Sterling. Even if it was a stunt, it's embarrassing. Either way, it was pretty needless to release such a video.

Yep completely agree, a hugely (typically) overrated English player, incredibly selfish(not in a good way either). Seems to do more moaning than anything else, would rather we didnt go next or near him.

Walcott would be a much better buy than Sturridge.
You could see Walcott replacing the goals and assists that we got from Kuyt at his best, and unlike Sturridge I think he could play across the front 3 without moaning about it.
I know he would drive me crazy, but he’s still young enough to improve

They are both young enough to improve. I am torn, in a non-Natalie Imbruglia way. I want a greedy, strong striker like Drogba or Berbatov in his prime. But Walcott has some unique abilities, and he's worked on his final product. In a side that is intended to have a lot of possession, I like the thought of him getting a lot of ball and getting at defences...

God, I hope we sign Carroll for about 15 million with an hour to go in the transfer window on Friday. :pac:

WEll if there is a deal to sell Sturridge in place we'll move for somebdoy come Friday and probably over pay for them as per usual on deadline day.

I tend to agree with ya to a degree, I think hes a good player with potential but at the moment he has a lot to prove, I've said so on the Chelsea thread.

Oussama Assaidi has given his first interview after a £2.4 million move from Eredivisie side Heerenveen to Liverpool. This post contains only the most interesting quotes, however the full interview could be found here: Read more › (Dutch)
During the interview the Moroccan admitted that he was aware of the long-standing interest from Anfield: "Yes, I kept quiet, nobody knew. Only my family knew about it." He continued: "At one point I was told that the club wanted me and that the technical director (Ian Ayre) would fly to the Netherlands to talk to me."
It has also become apparent that North-West of England was not Oussama Assaidi's initial destination. Before making his final decision the winger had a telephone conversation with Liverpool's recently appointed manager Brendan Rodgers: "The coach said he wanted me (at Liverpool). He said I should not put my signature on the Ajax contract. He wants us to play 4-3-3 formation with wingers."
Liverpool's manager has also made it clear that he will not put any pressure on the player right from the first day: "The coach also said that would give me time to get used to the club. And of course you cannot say 'no' to such a big club."
As expected, Liverpool's new number 11 was not in the squad to face the Premier-league champions Manchester City in a 2-2 draw at Anfield last Sunday. Assaidi said: "They were right to (not include me in the squad). My condition was not top because I did not have good preparation in Heerenveen."

    What embarrassing about it?

The bit where he said something like "reds you've won the three points, yellows.... You've lost your bonus", was cringe city, like something Noel Edmonds would say on deal or no deal.

Embarrassing for Sterling, and because people are going to jump on it and make it out to be a big deal, which in turn may affect Sterling. Also it's embarrassing in the sense that we've nothing to gain from it, yet it could needlessly damage us,

Would not touch him with a barge pole. Decent potential but not to be anything special. As he is now he is nothing more than a squad level player.

For me Borini has far more potential and is close to two years younger. I also think that Borini is a better fit for first team football right now.

Borini cost us £10m and Sturridge is not worth the same money. Would prefer to put any money like that towards an actual good player rather than a hype job who might become a decent player somewhere down the line.

I just want it over. Surprises on the last day of the trasnfer windows have not been good for us.

The greatest gift we were ever given was on the last day of a transfer window.....God came home! :D

I still smile just thinking about the call from a mate around 4pm that day to tell me he'd resigned, think I spent about €20 worth of credit ringing and texting people :pac:

Id like both Walcott and Sturridge. Would greatly improve the pace within the squad that can help win games.

In all likelihood, Dempsey is probably the most likely in, Afellay on loan is possible while Carroll, Adam, Spearing will make way. Downing is less likely to be moved on

Not really sure how you can rate Borini and not Sturridge, who is probably more proven than him.

Maybe... or maybe Sterling needs a manager that will give him a kick in the hole from time to time. Or is that what they want us to think, hmm?! :D

We've massive amounts to gain from it. The premier league is a hugely under tapped resource in America. Support for soccer is growing all the time and they will eat this **** up. Not saying I'm a fan of it but saying we've nothing to gain is silly. One thing our owners do seem to be is very commercially savvy.

Sturridge? No to that. Feel he has regressed massively in the last 6 months or so and what has always been a questionable attitude, seems to have gotten worse.

Take that penalty in the Olympics for example. I KNEW he was going to miss, absolutely fully convinced and its not often I'd be that certain about a once off penalty tbh.

If we are signing Walcott do it on the last day of the season. Would allow me to get over the fact that we spent money on him if it weakens Arsenal and prevents them from having time to sign a replacement.

My priority is a striker though. Wouldn't say no to Jordan Rhodes at all, but I can imagine the clusterfuck on here, especially with Lloyd, if he signed :pac:

I always thought that documentary was a bad idea. Having said that, would another manager have given Sterling a start. He obviously likes the boy, he's maybe a tad too big for his boots atm and Rodgers is just stamping his authority. Its fascinating to get such an insight for the observer though.

If Raheem has the right attitude, particularly given the fact that he is in the managers plans, that doc shouldn't really affect him. If however Rodgers fails, he will go from straight talking no nonsense motivator to **** talking, chilled out entertainer in the blink of an eye.

I think the people who'll jump on it are the embarrassing ones tbh. I think the aim of the show is to gain new fans/exposure.

I've no problems with Rodgers saying what he did but as I said, why do we and many others need to see it?

To repeat what I already said. I think that Borini has more potential than Sturridge, and that given that the club paid £10m for Borini, I would not be happy to see the club spend £19m or above on a player that I think has less potential.

I also said that I think that Borini is a better fit for our team/squad right in terms of his current skillset.

That's fair enough comment tbh, its good for me to get that point of view. I can't understand the subtle generic attacking of posters in the thread however.

Barcelona have agreements with Tottenham, Liverpool, and Schalke on a loan of Ibrahim Afellay (26). Player will make the final choice.

Im not a fan of Walcott....too hot and cold IMO. Sturridge looked good from what ive seen but not sure. Would want to be for a decent fee. Does Rodgers know him from his Chelsea days?
I think id prefer Demspey and Afellay. I think dempsey could prove to be a McAllister type signing. Good to have some experience up there.
