A friend of mine was in the Kop yesterday and he said he's never heard the Kop roar like they did when Skrtel scored the first yesterday.
    Anyone else there yesterday?

Yeah he'll probably be back later.
What's the deal with flights from Shannon to Liverpool in November?
Is the route finished? I tried to book for the Newcastle and Wigan games but there's no flights. There's a flight over for the Newcastle game but no return flight.

They changed it last year, it goes on days that suit but you'd have to stay over 3 nights to get back to SNN, its a nightmare to get over and back for a game. Better off going Galway - Manchester and getting the train

Can't be any worse then the bus from Dublin

I use Knock as well sometimes. Plenty of flights from Knock to John Lennon but I was hoping to use Shannon.
There's actually no flights at all the week of the Wigan game.
I'm wondering is their schedule just not out yet.

Pass completion's stats from yesterday. Gerrard's are really poor compared to his midfield partners, sooner he's out of midfield the better.

    Reina - 14/25 - 56%

    Johnson - 44/54 - 81%

    Coates - 24/29 - 83%

    Skrtel - 26/31 - 84%

    Kelly - 30/38 - 79%

    Gerrard - 51/65 - 78%

    Allen - 43/46 - 93%

    Sterling - 24/30 - 80%

    Shelvey - 44/50 - 88%

    Suarez - 35/45 - 78%

    Borini - 25/29 - 86%

    Enrique - 11/15 - 73%

    Carroll - 1/4 - 25%

Same, but the bus is painful. Its about eight hours. It wouldn't be so bad if they went on the Dublin Liverpool ferry, but they go Dublin Holyhead

Gerrard had a very good game yesterday though, if you even watch the Allen compilation it was Gerrard who he passed to lot as he was always trying to get into good positions to receive the ball.

Playing further forward and trying to play cutting ball etc will always lead to a lower completion ratio too but these passes have to be attempted.

He was good. He's a bit lazy defensively though for midfield. He also gave the ball away which led to the first goal. There's no need to make long balls if it's going to lead to us being count on the counter. That's the whole point of possession football.

Just wondering, had anyone ever bought a ticket for anfield under one of the package schemes, namely George Edward at the Sandon. Its 95 gbp for the package that includes match ticket, hot meal before hand and tea and sandwiches after. Does it represent good value for money?

Seems like all games are sold out until Christmas. Would like to head over with the missus, fly waterford to Manchester.

Who thinks Sahin will be thrown in on Sunday vs Arsenal.
I know Lucas is out but Shelvey had a great game yesterday.
Will Sahin get a 30 min cameo maybe ?

I'd imagine Shelvey will play the Hearts game and Sahin will go straight in.

Barring any other injuries that's what I'd do.

Match ticket is £40stg or thereabouts so if you think £55 is fair for a hot meal and a cup of tea then go with it. If not, become a member on Irishkop.com and youll get tickets there after a while.

I remember getting 2 tickets, 2 return flights and a hotel room for 2 for under €200 for Sunderland a few seasons back.

What's the word on Lucas' injury?

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

I'd guess the hot meal before hand means a burger from the bbq in the Sandon. For that price, its a rip off. However, it all relative, if you can't get a ticket elsewhere and are willing to pay the extra £55p/p it may be worth it from your own perspective

They'd want to be some sandwiches though

    Back.

Was gutted at the final whistle which was a strange sensation given how the team played to a man.

There is not one player that I could be critical of yesterday. I think every player put in a good performance and some were excellent.

Allen was unreal. It may be jumping the gun for some, but from what I saw yesterday, on and off the ball, we have finally replaced Alonso. Not saying he is as good as Alonso in everything that Alonso can do, but the same calmness, the same steel, the same ability to create space for himself, the same ability to always look like he has time on the ball, the same willingness almost insistence to receive the ball regardless of how close a marker is. He also has that wonderful talent of being a natural footballing metronome.

The guy just blew me away with his passing, his reading of the game, his positioning, and damn can the little fella tackle. Good leader on the pitch as well, and I would be surprised if we don't see the captain's armband going on him in a season or two.

Then we had Sterling. The boy was given a massive show of trust by the manager and he repaid it with a performance that was full of effort and skill. He was a delight to watch, and he really surprised me with how he looked like he was playing at the right level rather than being a youngster a little out of his depth. Cracking performance.

Borini was very good as well despite being played in his weakest position for most of the game. His runs off the ball are just so intelligent and his work rate is excellent. Still think he needs to be played in the centre so that he can use his positional play to greater effect. Unlucky not to have notched a goal for himself as well, and if Suarez had been a bit more clinical Borini might have had a couple of assists to his name.

Coates was another that was shown a great deal of faith by the manager and like Sterling he repaid it with a good performance. Did very little wrong throughout the game and showed a lovely habit of just nicking the ball from players rather than going in for tackles. Really liked the way he tends to save his tackles for when he is facing away from goal rather than trying them whilst he is chasing a player.

Shelvey was also very impressive and really reigned in his game to keep it simple and effective and he looked so much better as a player for doing so.

Suarez, Gerrard, Johnson, Kelly, and Reina all had good games as well.

Felt quite sorry for Skrtel after his mistake as he had been having a very good game, and I felt even worse for him when I saw the highlights of the game last night as it turned out that he had the last touch on the ball that took it away from Reina for the first goal. Up until I saw the highlights I thought it had been Reina that missed the cross.

Cannot wait to head back home again next weekend for the Arsenal game. If we play with the same kind of intensity and maybe have Agger, Sahin and Assaidi in the mix then I would be very confident of three points.

There must be a few players looking at yesterday's performances and thinking that save for injuries they won't have much chance of getting near the first team in the league too often.

I thionk the likes of Adam, Spearing, and Henderson all saw four playes yesterday (Lucas, Allen, Gerrard, and Shelvey) who are ahead of them in the pecking other and Sahin will push them all down another slot.

Downing must have looked at yesterday's game and seen a 17 year old kid that might push him out before the season is out and I think Carroll is in a position that all that can save his Liverpool career is Newcastle not buying him.

Cracking game with both sides putting in a great shift and the only downside to the day was the result.

Anyone else slightly disappointed with Borini? I know it was only his 2nd league game but his first touch wasn't great and despite taking up a couple of good positions he didn't really threaten too much.

Cork - Liverpool is handier than Galway-Manchester-Liverpool for anyone going from Limerick.

I think hes doing alright, hes not an out and out striker but he needs to grab those balls that are coming into the box.

Would disagree. He did ok yesterday despite being played out of position. He was in the right sided position for much of the game and that is by far his worst position.

He showed plenty yesterday to suggest that he should be used in the centre rather than out wide. Hell of a worker and he chased back and fought for everything. He also made it very difficult for City to have too much link up play on City's left flank.
