    Why are people peeved over Sahin? The info currently available suggests hes only after first team football, not a new club. Why would Utd move for a player like that?

    Given the chance, Liverpool or Arsenal would buy Sahin in a heartbeat. If he was for sale, no doubt Utd would be in for him too. The reason its a loan is because both Sahin and, to a lesser extent, Madrid want it to be a loan.

    Its not a case of Liverpool/Arsenal looking at him and saying, 'oh can't take a risk on him given the season he just had'. Hes a quality player. They probably hope to convince him to stay after a season in England.

    IMO they will fail and he will return to Madrid. As I said earlier, I also think there won't be an option to buy.

    Theres been nothing from the player to suggest he wants out of Madrid permanently and Madrid have said its up to the player. They won't mind keeping him on the books because they know he has buckets of potential.

    Just under €14 (free delivery) for the hardback edition here if anyone's interested:

    Might pick that up myself.

    Decent enough. I'm gonna wait till I read a few pages in a shop before I commit to it. Would like to find a paper back version to save a few euros if I can. I'm sure Louis won't mind if I don't buy the dearer one.

    Off the Ball did an interview with him a while back. It sounds very interesting. Would be keen to read about Clarefontaine etc.

    Any link to that?

    I've also been intrigued by Clairefontaine ever since I first heard of it 8-10 years ago. Would love to know more about it.

    Yup loaning him is not a long term solution.Simply kicking the can down the road.Fine for mid table clubs with no real direction but not the big boys. Hes crazy to be wasting a year ofhis life stuck there tbh.

    Managed to find it. Just listening at the moment.

    http://tunein.com/topic/?TopicId=38841089#

    You can find it on the link above. Go the third page of results and it's down near the end under May 15th.

    One tip. Don't pause it. It'll reset the whole audio.

    EDIT: Just finished it there. Very good interview. His point about Evra was interesting. He doesn't know how to waffle, just speaks what's on his mind.

    Also I'm glad he spoke about Zidane's performance in the '06 WC v Brazil. That was the greatest performance that I've seen from any player.

    I think I'll be buying the book.

    As far as I know he wrote it himself so it's not your typical footballers book.

    He probably had more time than most players :P

    (Poor Saha :( )

    True that.

    But he also seems to be intelligent, unlike your average footballer. In that interview with Off The Ball he spoke with perfect English. There are guys for whom English is their first language and they can't string together a correct sentence.

    I'm looking forward to reading it. Hopefully he goes into a bit of detail about his time at United. I think he interviewed Fergie and a few of the players so that should be interesting.

    Saha didnt play unless he was 100 per cent fit . Physically and mentally . I remember one of his managers making a kind of veiled dig at him .
    It was basically saying not being arsed was an injury .
    Ill rack my brain for the day to try find it
    Did he refuse to play a cup final for someobe because he didnt feel 100 per cent ?
    Doing my head in.

    Pogba is mouthing off in l'equipe. Although everyone saying **** always tends to be in that magazine . A week later then they say sorry must have translated it wrong . They are always at it .
    He couldnt care about alex fergusens 25 years in the game. He is ready now and was growing impatient for games. And the juve coach promised he could be sub for Pirlo and the other fella.
    The sad thing is he will be sub for Pirlo and the other 3 players

    just on the sahin to liverpool proposed loan. it will give him a chance to show he can play in the premier league even if it is for a mid table club and then we buy him next summer if he is good enough :-D.

    I hear he is class al right but it would take signing 4-5 players of that standard joining them to move LIVERPOOL from where they ended last year to challenging for the title

    I'd imagine there is a press conference today?

    Hopefully Fergie will give an indication of the team, if Evans is back, if Carrick will be CB again.

    A rumour about Herrera;
    Chris Atkins
    @Chris_Elastico
    So, @LopezOlvera (Commentator in Mexico) says Herrera will join #MUFC and be loaned back until December. Spoke with Pachuca president

    Chris Atkins
    @Chris_Elastico
    No idea on his trustworthiness. Let's see...

    Chris Atkins
    @Chris_Elastico
    RT @Cynegeticus: He is good, especially as he is very versatile, and has some things that would help in UK, like stamina. #Herrera

    Buttner will wear number 28,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,531 ✭✭✭magnumbud

    wouldnt be surprised if he said evans and rio were not fit and then went and played one of them. fergie tends to do that so that managers plan for someone not to be there or in this case to play against carrick in defence

    So, the rumour is we are going to sign a hard working box to box midfielder and leave him on loan til December? It is like Fergie is just trolling at this point!

    I would also confess I have little to no knowledge of this guy, so don't know if he would be the player we need (imo)

    Fergie: we definitely won't be buying anyone else

    Bitterly disappointing, if he is telling the truth as the current team/squad simply isn't good enough. Unbalanced and lacking in midfield. FFS.

    He also said there is every chance robin van Persie will start tomorrow

    hopefully Evans is in, if we get over this with 3 points, we have only one game then for the next 3 weeks and thats southampton next weekend.

    that 3 weeks should i hope, see Rio and Jones back, along with Vidic and Evans giving us plenty of options going into. but its defo worrying times in terms of injuries for sure :(

    Said there is a possibility of Evra starting at CB tomorrow, so that doesn't bode well for Evans' fitness.

    Evans, Rio, Smalling, Jones all out of the game tomorrow. Jones is back in training though.

    Manchester United are believed to be lining up a shock move for Tottenham midfielder Rafael Van der Vaar

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 32,865 ✭✭✭✭MagicMarker

    So maybe something along the lines of....

    Rafael Vidic Evra Buttner
    ---- Carrick Scholes
    Valencia - Rooney - Kagawa
    v.Persie

    Either that or Giggs will be LB. :eek: Or Valencia RB with Rafael LB.

    I'd rather Carrick at CB than Evra tbh. In fact why not give Wooton a shot?!

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 18,721 Mod ✭✭✭✭DM_7

    Evra in the middle and Buttner to make his debut then?

    well, Fergie says we are not looking to buy anyone at all, so it would APPEAR to rule it out.

    Logic, really, should rule it out anyway - we really don't need him! As far as Spurs midfielders go - Huddlestone (whom they have loaned out) and Sandro would be far more sensible targets.

    I do hope Fergie is telling fibs - as we need a combative central midfielder.

    So Buttner at RB? Not the situation you want throw a newbie into.

    Carrick was badly caught out a few times on Monday. I'd prefer to see Evra there, at least it might stop him going forward.
