I think Ando could easily cover for Carrick if needs be. Just tell him to sit in front of the back four and keep it simple at all times and play someone beside him like Cleverley beside him.

Having seen Kagawa handle the helter skelter of a tough away game at Everton so well I'm convinced that at some stage of the season Fergie will give him a game or two in a deeper role in midfield. He could do it with his eyes closed I think. Delicious first touch, really comfortable on the ball, lovely passing range, always looking around him even before the ball gets to him, able to dribble to get himself out of tight situations. A Scholes or Modric-esque rebirth as a deeper lying creator wouldn't surprise me at some stage of his Utd career. I think he's the best signing we've made since we got Evra ajd Vidic in for half nothing a few years back. Class act.

Oh so true. Good post (except for the "Ando" bit - Can't agree with you there!).

Signing Kagawa for £12m plus add ons looks like a lovely bit of business versus potentially paying upwards of £30m for Luka Modric.

Agree that Kagawa looks like he could play a deeper role if necessary.

Hey at least he didn't go to Liverpool. Seeing them sign someone actually good would be a rare and quite oddly disturbing thing.

I used to not mind/care about Liverpool football club but I now have a friend who supports them. I now want them to lose every match they play, even better 'do a Rangers'.

I absolutely depise them and always have. It seems to be a sin on this forum to say what you really think about our club's rivals (within the confines of abuse and the charter obviously). Too many people talking out of the sides of their mouths pretending to be "above" club rivalries while throwing in the odd subtle little dig into match threads. Boll*x to that. That shower lorded it over everyone for decades and now they're finally getting their comeuppance. Their decline into mediocrity is an endless source of amusement. No doubt I'll be labelled "obsessed" or "bitter" but privately I'd say every football fan thinks the same of their club's rivals and celebrates their defeats with as much enthusiaism they celebrate their own club's wins. It just seems on this forum being two faced about the whole thing is more laudable than simply being honest about the most natural thing in the world - hating your rivals.

My abiding memory of David May was a fantastic clearance off the line in a european cup game, and i couldn't remember who it was against (Juventus, maybe)...... While looking for it on youtube, however, I found this.... Now I have a new abiding memory...

    Love it!

    You're on a roll today.

Cards on the table...I f..king despise Liverpool too. Even the way their fans say "Liverpool Football Club" the whole time is like nails down a blackboard to me. Seeing them sink to new depths every year warms my heart.

    Hear, hear.
Never ever forget the glee that they took after the defeat in 1992.
Never ever forget their 'Come back when you have won 19' banner
Never ever forget the 'We live your dreams banner' in 2006

Just never ever forget what it was like in the 80's (and for those older, the 70's)

Them signing Andy Carroll warmed your heart most I think.

Do you hate all people with names like Andy/Ando or just those two? How about andersred

Maybe I'm mistaken here, but you seem to have gone from a good, sensible poster to a bit of a 'something else' in a very short period - The Rooney stuff yesterday, and the hate for Liverpool today?

I don't hate Liverpool, and as I said the other day here, I preferred when we were beating them to trophies á la Rafa's 'fachts' season, than the mess they have gotten into lately.

Let it all out brother, you'll feel better for it.

I'm not sure where this habit of pretending to be all magnanimous towards your hated rivals came from on here anyway? Its football, rivalry and hatred of your traditional foes are its lifeblood. It should be embraced rather than the hypocritical attempts to not appear bitter we see on here all too often . Of course we're bitter. Of course we're obsessed. Its football.

I actually bet a lot of the infighting and bitching on here would be solved by people accepting opposition fans will be delighted when you lose. how many threads are derailed by people accusing each other of "obsession" and "bitterness?" If we aqll accepted the flak a little better and engaged in it in a way that doesn't break the charter this place would be aot better off and more craic too, and would also reflect more accurately they way I bet we all are in real life.

Anyone else think that Bebe might be the solution to our centre midfield problems?

He's 6'3 and a beast of a chap. Wins everything in the air and is calm and composed on the ball but can make that killer pass if needs be. We all know that he can be a little erratic but then who isn't. All the great midfielders of the last few years had that side to them, Keane, Gattuso and so on.

He certainly has the ability to play there. I think it's just a question of whether Fergie can see that.
    DDG
    Rafael - Rio - Vidic - Evra
    Carrick - Bebe
    Kagawa
    Nani - Rooney - RVP

A formation like the one above would be brilliant, and it'd save us needlessly spending £30 million on another player who may not be suited to the English game or who we don't really know anything about.

Bebe knows the English game and we know Bebe. It's time to give him his chance Fergie.

    What a ludicrous proposition.

One should not, nae, one MUST not confine Bebe to just one position. He's a peacock, you gotta let him fly!

So Mourinho has confirmed they haven't received a single bid for Kaka. That finally puts those daft rumours to bed anyway hopefully.

    The Homeless Fellaini.

With better hair. Pity he was made to cut it. I suppose it helped with wind-resistance and it increased his speed.

He'd probably have beaten Bolt in the Olympics if he wasn't off on pre-season scoring goals and helping to cure cancer. He can't do everything.

This word isn't in Bebe's vocabulary.

    .

    Meh,
    It should be
    DDG
    Rafael-Rio-Bebe-Evra

    Carrick
    Cleverley
    Nani
    Kagawa
    Rooeny
    RVP

No one gets in the way of Bebe. He runs like a train and will keep on running till he hits someone.

How can you spend your whole life in Ireland and not have a friend who is a Liverpool fan until recently?

I would hate that to be honest.
My Liverpool mates outnumber my United mates easily.I love the slagging and needling that goes on almost daily.
I love to see them lose, they love to see us lose.
It's the way it's always been and should always be.

I watched the Pool v Brom game in my sitting room with 1 United fan and 3 Liverpool fans, few beers and had great craic.

We have group text messages that are just a constant stream of abuse towards both teams.

That rivalry is essential to both teams in my opinion.
It would be a sad day if they plummeted to complete and utter irrelevance.

I can't wait for the game next month.

Yeah midtable Pl mediocirty will do fine. Though watching Irish fans trying to keep in touch with a team playing in the Blue Square North Premier League would be good for a laugh too.

De Gea and Bebe in midfield. DE Gea for the fancy passing and Bebe for everything else.

maybe I have gone a step to far here. Bebe can do the fancy passing himself.

I'm annoyed at Rooney for not being fit and I don't like Liverpool...that doesn't make me a bad person.

Plus I acknowledged publicly that my criticism of Rooney was OTT. It was heat of the moment stuff. I was raging after Monday night.

The thing about Liverpool is well most of the fans i know are deluded. I dont hate them i get a good laugh winding up friends. Its all good banter i dont like to see them do well but i love the rivalry. Most Liverpool fans i know seem to get as much pleasure if not more when United lose than when Liverpool win. We all have Liverpool friends who we have friendly banter with. I dont wish them luck but would hate if they dropped further down the league.

We disagree - I'm happy to move on.

Do a Rangers? I've enjoyed the comedy show of the past few years but that's a bit much.

That would involve a lot of people losing their jobs and would generally be bad for football, particularly if you consider the size of Liverpool's fan base.
