Could we not have bought someone more established? Sure we might have been better off keeping Fabio than paying out for this guy...having said that will be interesting to see how he does if/when given the chance.

Fabio wouldnt have been better off though. He needs a full seadon playing every week.He wont get that at Utd.

Lol, it looks like he arrived for the medical, was given a strip to change into and took that pic on his phone in the changing rooms.

    I love him already.

fergie seems to like one of these low cost punts every now and then, we have 4 or 5 of them over the past 4 or 5 years.

Lindegaard has been a really good purchase and i suppose Obertan and Diouf both turned into re-sells who have been decent players, just not good enough for United. De Laet was a strange one, he has been sold on and i think fee recouped so i guess overall, the policy is working Miller/Bellion are two more examples and i suppose you can include Tosic in there too.

i have a feeling however, this lad is a step about the likes of Obertan and Diouf and will proove to be a decent buy and good back up. he seems like a right headcase.

On the De Laet one - I think he was signed as a favour to him as much as United needing him.

He was known by the club from his time at Antwerp and he was going to be released by Stoke (?). We had some players out on loan and a defensive crisis at reserve level; so we brought him in, instead of recalling the lads out on loan. He impressed at reserve level in the games he played, so was given a new contract for the following season - and he continued to be a quality player for the reserves.

I don't think he was ever signed with an eye on the first team, and I don't think he would have been signed if did not have connections at the club.

I texted my Uncle to see did he know anymore about Dembele or Strootman.

I basically got back that Fulham are reluctant to sell unless its swap deal. Fergie is still interested and if another player is not for better value or comes in, then expect a tempting bid before transfer day. (more likely during week).

People can take it for what it is. Best maybe to wait and see rather then talk about this now.

    Important match later.:)

    Swap for who I wonder?

I'd be happy enough for us to give them Anderson. Cue angry posts about people's beloved "Ando"...

It's probably a two way thing...Fergie's getting the opportunity to see how Fabio might get on as first choice left back.

    Not going well so far...

This fella could turn out good, Evra wasnt exactly a superstar when he joined and Silvestre didnt really do much at Inter, so you never know.

A lot of players from the Dutch League seem to do well in England.

The only thing to be said in his defense really is that that's a shocking QPR team.

Evra had already played in a champions league final for Monaco. This guy Buttner seems to just cover for him.

What's the story with Ezekiel Fryers? Is he still contracted to the club or is he a free agent?

Never heard if they ever agreed a compensation fee for him but I don't think he's contracted to us anymore, not sure about his situation with them.

    91

if we only score 91 goals, we are f*cked! 120 last year and we won f*ck all.

You're not talking about just league goals then? Just checked as a matter of interest and we scored a lot of league goals last year compared to other seasons but won nothing

Sorry, should have clarified that I meant the league tally. Not overall.

    RVP - 20 goals
Kagawa - 11 goals (many assists)
Buttner - 5 goals (I've a feeling this guy is nuts)

Buttner - 5 goals (I've a feeling this guy is nuts)

You must be nuts if you think our reserve left back is gonna score 5 goals.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,709 ✭✭✭shrewdness

I knew he scored a few goals but I just read he was Vitesse' joint second top scorer in the league last year!

I'd imagine though that's more to do with their scoring problems than him scoring loads.

I'm goin on the fact he likes to get forward and I'd say he'll feature more than you think, league cup games and certain league games, don't be surprised.
