The M'Vila stuff is everywhere again today for what feels like the 1000th time this season. I honestly don't want to hear that name again unless he's being announced on Arsenal.com!

Still don't think it's going to happen.

Considering the reasons for Song's departure and what people have said one here about M'vila's attitude I would be very surprised if it happens.

    Ha bloody ha.

Seriously excited about Sahin's capture myself, now that it seems to be a done deal. My idea of the "front 6" would be:

    Arteta
    Sahin

    Cazorla

    ---Chamberlain
    Podolski---
    Giroud

Not to eliminate Walcott entirely, far from it, but his best performances always come when we're in the lead. When teams are well organised and sit deep against us like last Saturday he rarely finds the way through, when we take the lead and the opposition have to come out is the time for Theo to come on and exploit the spaces left behind.

I'd go with that, especially think that Podolski would be better suited down the left rather then played as the lone man up front. Basically something similar to what we had in the first half against Koln.
Think there will be a lot of rotation between between players like Sahin (if we do get him) and Rosicky/Diaby. When Wilshere comes back fancy him to be fighting for Cazorlas spot with Ramsey being used mainly as a substitute this year barring an injury to any of the above.

Yeah, if Mexes comes then I will cry myself to sleep before every matchday. He's worse than Squillachi.

Mexes is a certainty, with Squillaci on the way to Olympiakos we will need to continue our long standing tradition of handing a s**t Frenchman the number 18 shirt. (Squillaci, Silvestre, Cygan, Grimandi... (Actually Grimandi wasn't that bad in fairness!))

    Arteta --- Sahin
    ----Wilshire
    Santi -- Giroud -- Pod

That's what I'm looking forward to and I think will be our strongest team.

If that team ever lines out in front of defence containing Sagna, Kos, Verm, I'd get some serious wood.

Did Santi play out wide most of the time in La Liga? I thought he was more a central player.

Was just about to post the same, serious looking side.
    With a decent bench

With Song gone would I be correct in saying that Darren Dein has no clients at us now?

    He was the Agent of:

    Henry
    Clichy
    Fabregas
    RVP
    Song

And even at that if all these were missing you could have a team of

    ---- Diaby---- Rosicky/Ramsey

    Ox

    Walcott
    Gervinho

    Chamakh ----

We are now a Darren Dein free club for now. Hope now the club takes a strong stance against letting any of their players use him as their agent. Nothing but trouble for us. Don't think he was RVPs agent though. (Think it was Kees Vos?)

Podolski played as second striker for cologne last year and managed almost 20 goals in the bundesliga, for a team who were relegated. His best position is not on the left.

Am I the only one who doesnt think Mexes is as bad as is being made out? He'll be battling Miquel for fifth place, maybe Djourou for fourth but not much more. I think he's definitely good enough for that role.

I just did a check and Kees Vos is his agent in Holland but he was on the book of Darren Dein too.

Quotes taken from the Daily Mail.

"He counts Van Persie among his commercial client list and Song among the stellar cast of names on the walls of his Hampstead offices."

"Talks between the club, Van Persie - who also has an agent in Holland (Kees Vos) - and his representatives are scheduled to start again over the summer."

So it seems Dein had his sticky fingers in all the transfers that have annoyed Arsenal fans over the last few years.

    A-hole.

I wouldn't be Walcott's biggest fan but he thrives on the quick release to get a run on the defenders but last Saturday we tippy-toed way too much around the middle. I have never seen as many balls played backwards. Far too slow to suit Walcott. Sunderland sat too deep to counteract the quick ball to him and Gervinho. Great tactics by MO'N and we will come up against similar loads of times this season. Crossed to Giroud who is 6' 4" and knock downs might have reaped more rewards.

    AFC ‏@WheeLer_AFC

"Sahin expected to arrive at London Colney in a matter of hours. Rejected Spurs and #LFC to join #AFC on loan. No option for permanent deal. "

So no option to buy then? Should be a solid signing for the year all the same.
He has now said we have first option to buy if Madrid want to sell.

    Arteta
    Sahin

    Wilshere

    ---Cazorla
    Gervinho---
    Podolski

I would go with that line up myself, I really fancy Gervinho to have a cracking season he is going to tear full backs to shreds and although I would much prefer to see Cazorla in a more central role I just cant leave Arteta out of the team he is so important for us.

Lads there is no reason why we cant win the league this year, we have a wealth of riches on the bench to choose from, Giroud, The Ox, Walcott, Diaby, Rosicky, Ramsey, Santos. In terms of strenght in depth its the best squad we've had in the last 5 years.

Still think we are light in the striker department. Looks like Arsenal are trying to replicate the Spanish formation of more midfielders. I think we will be found wanting in this department.

Lads, Wilshere isn't an AM, he's more of a deep lying midfielder.

    --- Arteta --- Wilshere ---

    Sahin

    Cazorla - Podolski - Gervinho

Is much more likely should Cazorla play on the flanks.

We've a midget midfield though so you'd worry about teams bullying us. Could be the makings of a cracking CL team though.

While I do agree with you about our squad being good enough and strong enough to challenge, my main worry is cab they all gel together that quickly we have a tough run very early on and with maby new players getting to know each other and the system wenger wants them to play is as different story altogether

We especially need Giroud or Podolski to hit the ground running sadly they don't have time for a bedding in period.

I disagree with you on that one Wilshere played AM at youth levels, has been given the number 10 jersey by Wenger and himself stated that he sees himself following in the footsteps of past Arsenal number 10's if all that doesn't scream AM I don't know What dies.

Hasn't played any senior games for us in that position. I'd be surprised to see him there is all I'll say - shirt numbers don't mean a whole lot nowadays either.

Yes but you have to remember last time Wilshere played we had Fabregas there for that role, and even when he left he said not to worry Wilshere is there. But sure time will tell.

If nobody else important leaves and we don't get any serious injuries to key players then I'd be hopeful about next year. We're incredibly reliant on lots of brand new players at the moment so I'd be more hopeful of just being really solid this season and improving lots.

City slipped up but eventually won the game the other day due to experience and belief. IMO we'd draw that game at the moment.
