Excell conditional formatting

Hi all, Im trying to set a rule where you have 2 columns A,B The formula i would like to set is: If A = any NUMBER/Letter then B is filled to RED by default If B = y then B is filled to Green Is it possilbe to set up radio boxes or a check box in excel? Thanks for any help.

Hi all,

set 2 seperate rules

rule with formula

=a1="y"

set to green

rule 2

=a1<>"y"

set format to red.

make sure there is no referencing i.e. $ in the cell ref. do on one cell e.g. in row a in this case and copy formatting using the format painter.

yes, you can use check-boxes and radio buttons in excel. use the control toolbox bar. getting them to do stuff is another thing - google is your friend - easy to find tutorials on the web.
