Not sure about that, check the kerb weight of the Duster - it's lighter than it looks, maybe 100 kg more than the current Clio.

Also there is a new Clio on the way soon. 2013 Clio vs 2013 Duster in a head on crash - I'd pick the Clio.

Theyre doing cash back and discounts on the Clio. Duster price isn't negotiable.

They'll have to do damn good ones if they want to shift any when the duster arrives.

I think 'MPI' merely referrs to the fact that the engine is Multi-point injection. You'll find this is a Renault sourced unit once again. Most likely the 1.6 8v from older generation Megane and Laguna variants.

Those big Clio discounts are gone. There is zero margin in those Dusters too by the way.

Does that mean they won't take a trade in or give a straight deal discount?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,328 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

It means if they trade in your car there'll be no margin to artificially prop up your trade in. I.e they give you the trade price for your car.

Fiat did this years ago with 'open book pricing'

Paddy won't like that one bit.

I would only buy one to have a big sign on the back parcel shelf saying.

    You've been Dusted !

Yep, I was told to start trying to sell privately now as I wouldn't be impressed with any trade in offer they could give

Is ther a discount without a trade in?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,999 ✭✭✭✭mickdw

I see the pricing on the website, 4500 deposit and 149 per month for 36 months with a final payment of 6,700. So its costing 10k approx to drive one for 3 years and walk away.
Probably alittle on the expensive side.

What is the colour range? Cant find it on website

Is this going to be the only Dacia in Ireland?

    Going by the UK site.

Metalic is about €560 extra, and there seems to be only one non metalic colour available, alpine white, but the white looks ok.
Given the likely price conscious buyer here, expect to see lots of white ones.
The metalic colours seem to be blue, silver, grey and black

    Uk models get:

    Argentum Silver (m)
    Caspian blue (m)
    Granite grey (m)
    Mariana blue (m)
    Alpine white

So if you wanna cheap out, you have to go white. Which everyone will want.

There was always a sandero by the train station in Cork, forren plates though. Always meant to take a pic of it for the 'seen today' thread cause a db9 used to park infront of it so that could be in the background.

Yes , don't think that has been agreed yet!

Foreign spec, legal requirement in some countries.

Looking forward to taking one for a test drive.
It will be interesting to see how quickly the order books fill for delivery in Jan 2013

It's not that the Duster is an unsafe car because it only got 3 stars, but you want every bit of protection you can get in a crash. IMO, 3 stars doesn't cut it these days if buying a brand new car.

I wonder would the Nissan juke be a more comparable car to the Dacia rather than the quashqai . Haven't seen many around , any thoughts please?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,030 ✭✭✭Jimbob 83

The Juke is a nonsensical type of car, the Quashqai atleast has a viable fuction

I think the Juke makes real sense to be honest. It has the footprint of a small car (a Micra) which is good for parking, allows a good view of the road which is ideal in city conditions, the height makes loading a child seat in the back a doddle plus is easier for older people to get in and out of, has a decent level of specification and doesn't cost the earth to buy or run. Hence it's doing pretty well for Nissan.
