Which Lens Would You Bring?

OK, tough choice on what i have to do here. Im going to Spain for a week at the end of the month and im trying to decide what lens to pack (cut down weight and unnecessary items as such).

Using a Canon 550d and the lens available to me are :
    • Canon 18-135mm IS
    • Canon 50mm F1.8

Pros and cons to both, mainly being :

50mm : less weight and bulk, easier to carry around
18-135 : more photo opertunity and wider field to get some landscape shots.

Its our first holiday with the little fella, so really want to get some good quality pics of him that we can frame etc when we get home, so that alone probably points to the nifty fifty........?

    I'd bring the 18-135.

...and as the nifty-fifty is so small, may as well bring that too. ;)

They're too different to compare. Sure the 50 1.8 is so small and light it will probably fit in your pocket anyway.

The zoom would be the more practical choice for walk around shooting but if you're specifically looking to get frame worthy shots of your son then maybe the 50 with its shallow DOF would be a safer bet.

    Id recommend both though.
