Changing from UPC to Sky...cable question

We are living in a country town so UPC cannot provide the full service here as in, the "record" the channels box, or whatever it is called. We have UPC since we built the house in 1998.

So we are talking changing to sky, much and all as I don't like the idea of sky at all but the OH loves the sport etc....another story!

My question is, will the Sky technicians have to rip up existing cables or can they use them? I note from the socket in the wall there is a brown wire(which I presume is the aerial) and a black wire. I have heard people left with cables on the roof and other nasty thingys when installing. Any tips? :(

    Why not just get freesat?

They will need 2 cables for the sky box unless you want the box in the attic & have a sky eye at the tv, of course that`s only if you don`t want anymore cables being drilled into your living room. that black cable could be satellite cable aswell ( just newer). if it is then your sorted hopefully, no extra charges.

Sky techs will just run a new coax cable from the sat dish to whatever room you want leave the upc cable alone if in future you decide to go back.
It doesn't take long for the installation to be done.
