3DS XL

Got the XL today. I checked the deals in symths, hmv and gamestop. If your buying the XL without trade in hmvs deal is by far the best.

€230 + Charger + one game from mario 3d land, mario kart 7, kid icarus and another i can't remember. I picked mario land myself.

Gamestops deal was a joke, 260 + art academy, are they having a laugh.

Just got an XL, cheapest I found in a shop in the UK was £169 - that's from a place called Grainger Games.

Still have the charger from the old machine so that saved me £10, I can't understand some of the trades that GAME are offering - instore the machine seems to be £200, and you got £100 if you decide to trade in your 3DS for a 3DSXL...in doing so you loose your Mii count and your achievements etc, but you also have to pay for a charger because GAME insist you give a charger with your 3DS when trading.

Well I eventually got my 3DS XL!

I went into Gamestop and spent the best part of 2 hours in there!! The guy working there was sound enough and he let me do the account transfer in the shop, using my phone as a wifi hotspot.

Like others said the XL had to do a system update which took a good while and then actually transferring stuff between the 2 consoles took about 40 minutes! The 2 lads working there were pretty sound and started slagging me saying they close at 6 and they'll have to kick me out if it doesn't hurry up. So eventually it finished, the battery on the XL was on red by the end of it.

I just copied over the files from old SD card to the new one and everything has copied over fine, except for 3 games I had to redownload but that was fine.

As for the console itself, I think it's amazing. I'm going to play all of my DS and 3DS games again on this thing!

got my transfer done finally luckily smyths had just got wifi available today when I went back girl was very accommodating even though she admitted she didn't know it was necessary! Had 8 credit and 2 games to transfer took a good 30 mins to do it.

Its miles better than the original

Yes Cloud it's deadly, I'm going to start Master Quest in Ocarina of time now and I might restart RE:Revelations as well, is Mario 3D land worth picking up?

Sully that's great you were able to do that and only 30 minutes as well, good stuff!

I was the same but I've been playing it non stop now since I got it, I think you should go through your games and see if you've any crap you want rid of!

I don't though, the only thing I have that I'd be willing to trade in is a PS3, since the new PS3 super slim model should be out in a few months :pac:

Asda in Strabane had the XL yesterday for £169.

Oh and to follow from what I said earlier in the thread, Game in Derry is still open.

Got the XL today. God, as soon as I saw the two side by side, I knew it was the right move. Took an hour to do the system update/transfer. Great to see that it preserved the folders from the 3DS too. The free charger was a nice surprise from Gamestop.

The XL is going to add a new lease of life to 3DS games. For example, Rayman Origins really comes alive on the bigger screen.

The one thing I'm going to have to get used to is how far away I hold the system. I can't hold it close up like I did with the ds and 3DS because there's physical gaps between the pixels. Tried a few game and theres a good bit of difference between them. Zelda looks incredible while Mario land 3DS looks only alright. Tales of the Abyss looks rough but it was an aliased mess to begin with.
The system itself is really nice apart from the speakers which sound as bad as a mobile phones speakers.

Depends. It's certainly playable but from the games I tried Tales of the Abyss suffered from the lower ppi the most. The game has bad aliasing so the XL is only going to make it worse. It's still worth playing in my opinion.

Saw that HMV deal yesterday, very tempted at that price nearly broke down and bought it there and then. Hopefully they will keep it going for a few weeks yet.

Anyone know is Gamestop the only one that lets you buy back your old 3DS to do the transfer, or do HMV or Smyths have something similar? Would much much rather do transfer at home in my own time.

What the hell is this RUBBISH of Gamestop etc LETTING you do a file transfer?
I would be under the impression that there is no doubt you can do this if you are trading in your system to get the new one.

If not then I would expect at least €200 for my old system with all my games on it, actually I wouldnt trade it in at all in that case.

On topic, saw the XL at the weekend, its super sweet! But I am holding off for 6 months or so for some better colours or ltd editions. I dont really see a rush or need for a new one just yet, but that screen is AMAZING looking!

And I heard the Circle/slide pad is stronger and better rubber is used. Thats kinda cool.
