Any chance of a warning before the server restarts in future? It would be nice to be able to save stuff beforehand.

Is the guy with the player ID Ulsterbankfail trying to be clever and funny?

Also would whoever keeps putting barbed wire and tank traps across the gates of the south west military base near Balota just stop it ffs. It's pointless and serves no purpose other than to ruin the gaming experience for others.

There are other ways in, but it's just annoying seeing so much of it.

TBH I try and send announcements via Rcon but it fails most of the time and I don't have time to keep trying to send it, based on my expierence you should save things as you go, you never know when things will go down.

    Save??? what is this?

I also got disconnected when the server restarted but I logged back on and nothing was lost.

Is there ever night time on boards?
It says UTC-5 on the title but even at 3 or 4 am last night that'd put it back to 10 or 11pm and still it was perfect sunlight and the in game watch said it was only about 6pm. Just wondering why it's never night time.

Night operations with NV are really good fun and it seems almost impossible to do on boards unfortunately. Are you resetting the server at different intervals to cut out night time play entirely or what because the in game watch saying it's 6pm when it should be UTC-5 are definitely out of sync :) It'd be nice to get some night time play in during the night. Nothing like roaming around on scramblers at night with NVGs.

Time is never changed on the server, but it does bug and get messed up a restart usually syncs the time again. In other words the admins don't do anything with the time, but being an Alpha it bugs, more regular restarts would probably help.

Trust me, 5am last night it was pitch black. Started getting dark about 4:30am, it was 8pm ingame when it got dark.

If you have a vehicle and are driving along a nice piece from where you last saved it and the server restarts, then you respawn where you were when it restarted but your vehicle is back where it was last saved just sitting there waiting to get stolen. There's no way to keep saving the bus as you're driving so hard to save as you're go along tbh. A warning gives you time to save it and be ready for the restart.

If you're having problems sending out a warning that's fine though.

Is there any way to judge distance using the squares marked on the map in game? Is it like a standard map?

So alt+f4 is considered out smarting someone now is it? I think we have a disagreement in how the game is played.

I wouldn't quite put it that way, but in essence, yes. Butthurt? only that people think it's ok to alt+F4. I've had people quit upon hearing my voice over comms.

Of course there's no way to convince you, but I wasn't going to shoot at him, I genuinely got bored and wanted to see whether this person would kill me, or leave. I've gotten to the point where gear means nothing to me and I'd rather die down at the coast than up where no one needs my loot. Just ask me why gear means nothing to me.
Just count yourself lucky to still be alive - a quick page down to set zeroing to 100 and you turning your back for a split second and that would have been you dead.

I'm well aware he could have killed me, I even opened my backpack to give him the last m107 mag. I gave him the most powerful weapon all he had to do was hit me once, it would have taken a few from my m4a1 sd. I decided to leave my life in his hands.

No matter what happens in the game, I wouldn't quit, I only wish others would behave the same. I really would rather he killed me than alt+f4, now I get the feeling there's an alt+F4 sniper out there, if he did it once, why wouldn't he do it again?

Yeh but that should happen at 1am rather than 5am :) I think 1am is a good time for it to start getting dark. Gives a few extra hours of Day for people to play during the evening after 8pm since a lot of us play after this time. But I like the dark time too as it gives a totally different vibe if you're using night vision or even flares etc.

Each large square (01, 02, 03) is 1 KM to a side. When you zoom in that is divided into 100Meter sections (011, 012).

Perfect, thats what I suspected but wasnt sure. Trying to get a grasp on judging distances for zeroing

how long does it take player to run 1km in the game? (at work otherwise I'd get ma Daly Thompson on)

I'll bite... why does gear mean nothing to you ?

I still don't get why you're complaining ? You weren't in a fire fight... you both stood there for over 3 minutes and no shots were fired.. i mean... what exactly did he do to deserve reporting besides leaving the game. What makes you think he alt/f4'd ? Surely with all the time standing around he could have just disconnected normally.

    @ Aar0n...

Interesting to see a RGO Frag grenade both in your main inventory and another in your back pack.

Care to explain where they came from, as there not on the weapons/ammo wiki. Only legal grenades are M67 Frag and M203 HE...

Aaron man, you have a crazy view on what a D/C'er is. You had about as much time as a week to consider that guy a threat and shoot him.

Clearly the guy got bored and couldnt be arsed going anywhere else and, IMO (Admin), is nowhere near eligible to feel the ever so illustrious ban list.

Get back to us when you **** up somebodies day, your legging it after them and then they all of a sudden disappear.

I ran about the map and got the co ordinates for 11 camps, so I reckon I could get any gear I wanted in no time, and it takes like an hour after spawning to run through cherno getting stuff.

That RGO grenade I did not know was not legal, I found them in a camp and have never used one. I couldn't see them on the wiki but satchal charges aren't there either. I can't remember which one but one of these.

    011091
    019087
    016079
    013069
    088066
    010062
    007044
    105042
    103044
    101052
    096097

And just to be fair, my camp is 002094

Maybe, I just think it's more to do with the players mindset in whether they ever consider quitting as an option to any encounter/situation.

Hopefully rocket comes up with something that forces a player to find an in-game solution to problems and eliminate thoughts of "I could just quit now and survive".

Something like WoW's timer system would be good. 1 or so minutes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 405 ✭✭hawkeye_bmr

Anybody else notice how much more shots it takes to kill the zombies now (well, since steam updated to 1.62)?

Previously, it would take 1 bizon round to the head, or 3 shots to the body to take down a zombie, now its 6 shots to the body (still 1 shot to head to kill), but also noticed the effective range has gone down on it too.

I used to be able to take out zombies 150 - 200m away with headshots, now im lucky to land a shot on target at that distance.

Also, a zombie fell onto me when i shot him, managed to make me bleed out for some reason...

When somebody stands around waffling to you for 3 minutes you have every right to leave the game... Otherwise you could just stand around people waffling on and on and they would have to stay and entertain your nonsense untill such time you F'd off / shot at them / they ran away far enough to be out of earshot!! Some interesting logic there!!

It's blatantly obvious that the only reason you made a butthurt post trying to get someone banned is because your little game didn't work out for you and ruined your "epic" video.. If you really meant to give that guy your gun then what's the problem? maybe he had to go have his dinner.. Maybe he had to go to bed.. The point is he doesn't need your permission to leave the game irregardless of your intentions.

I don't think we're so draconian as to ban people for being ungrateful. That seems to be your actual complaint.

    irregardless
A word used by uneducated people intending to sound intelligent. Often, the defendant will use this word in court in an attempt to impress the judge and jury. Educated people notice and those who use this word instantly identify themselves to educated people as being uneducated. Educated people rarely correct them because it helps educated people more easily identify them if they are well groomed.

    http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=irregardless

Butthurt much? Leave it alone for f**k sake. I think he probably gets it by now.

rgo grenades are legal, can only be found in a uaz. that wiki isn't very accurate, rocket has said himself at one point that not everything in the game is in the wiki (which makes it a pain in the arse for determining whats hacked and whats not). i dont even think the normal grenade are on it, i could be wrong in saying that though

So these are the options you came up with:
    a) wait for the other player to leave.
    b) wait to be shot at
    c) run away, or
    d) alt+f4

And 3 minutes is not long in dayz.

I hit f9 and record upon every player interaction, I have many such uninteresting recordings. I made a post because in my opinion players who consider alt+f4 as a solution/option are playing the game wrong, and a one or two day ban is enough to get the message across for first time offenders.

By my logic and your words, I believe you are playing the game wrong.

Right to be very clear here disconnecting to avoid possible death during PVP on IE1 will result in a ban. Outside of that people can log off when and how they like, the video shows nothing that warrants a ban. Move on.
