    Help needed urgently. I stupidly went out and bought a new TV without fully confirming beforehand that it can do what I need it to do. I know...sleep deprivation does that. I haven't opened the box yet in case I need to hand it back (that's if it can be handed back).

    I need to connect my laptop to the following TV to extend the laptop screen to the TV screen (dual monitor). TV model: LG 32LS3400

    The laptop only has a VGA port (female).

    The TV has no VGA port. Spec;
    HDMI 1.4: 2
    Full Scart: 1
    Component in (Y,Pb,Pr) + Audio: 1
    RF In: 1 (T/C) or 2 (T/C, S2) or 1 (T2/C)
    Jack Pack (Side)
    Jack Pack (Rear)
    USB 2.0: 1
    CI slot: 1

    For the rest of the spec see: http://www.amazon.co.uk/LG-32LS3400-32-inch-Widescreen-Freeview/dp/tech-data/B007IYVUC8/ref=de_a_smtd

    PowerCity's ad states Pc In Via Hdmi Only.

    Can this configuration work?

    I know VGA (analogue) is not compatible with HDMI (digital) but is there a way for this to work somehow? E.g. I have a DVI-D male to HDMI male cable. Could I just buy a VGA male to DVI-I female adapter to plug into the VGA port on my laptop, then attach the DVI-D male to HDMI male cable to the HDMI port on the TV?

    Or if not, could VGA out to Component in (Y,Pb,Pr) + Audio: 1 work?

    Further question: Obviously a VGA to HDMI converter would do the trick, they're not as pricey as they used to be...but it would probably need to be HDMI 1.4 compatible rather than version 1.3 Does anyone know where I can get one of these cheaply in Dublin?
