The entire LFCTour site is now redirecting to the Offal page, and neither responding - something other that Lucas news, or another website screw-up?

I sincerely hope that we reign in our Lucas expectations for the coming season.

He had his best patch for the club in the year before his injury but this really is a case of absence makes the heart grow fonder IMO.

Getting back to regular matchs will be tough enough, nevermind recapturing earlier form.

Ok, so there will be teams for each half on the weekend match, so we need two line-ups, both with some experience and some youth.

    Jones
    Flanagan-Skrtel-Wilson-Enrique
    --Aquilani--Spearing--Shelvey--
    ----Ibe----Morgan----Cole----

    Gulacsi
    McLaughlin-Carra-Agger-Robinson
    --Sterling----LUCAS----Adam----
    --Eccleston--Pacheco--Adorjan--

SlickRic - is it just me or does he look like he's lost some weight (not in a good way) and looks a little reserved (timid) in the photos so far. I think that is probably natural to be cautious after such a long injury. I think he should take the recovery very slowly in terms of playing games.

How often do players come back from such bad injuries only to get further injuries.

Are you being serious? I wouldnt read into photos too much.

I know you can't read too much into photos, it was just my opinion. You can tell when a player is looking fit and healthy - Skrtel looks like a beast in one of the latest photos!

Tickets acquired for the Stoke game today (bringing the missus to her first match) and hopefully get Arsenal and Utd (have exactly 7 credits) tomorrow. Bring on the pain.

Rafa took over a squad that qualified for CL. We were 45 mins away from him taking us to a cup final embarrassment and no CL football the following year. Theres no point debating particulars over that but his start at the club was offering players CL football, not taking over a team closer to relegation. Perspective.

We cant change history but the crux is he got time and City and Spurs were a dot on the horizon in terms of league challenge then.

The overall point is, imho, Dalglish got very unlucky. In many uneducated quarters he is held to account for prices paid, on the pitch, 20% of the chances that hit the post go in and he has us moving forward from where we were. If folk think that there is some sort of equation where a man comes in and spends liberally to get 4th these days they are mistaken. He will still make mistakes in the market but maybe Rodgers will get a bit extra time because he doesnt have incompetence doing the negotiating.

If we paid what we thought the players signed under Dalglish were worth we would have made a profit on players under these owners. We can say we did overpay, doesnt change the bodies around the place putting on the shirt. Is it reasonable to assume if we were told we would get to two cup finals and finish 8th after taking over a team losing at home to wolves that would have been ok for 1st season or not?, half the team last year barely played with each other before that.......are folk expecting miracles or what?. Dont expect any next year.

So basically what you are saying is:

    You didnt like Rafa?
Kenny was unlucky and unfairly sacked?
The singings (negotiations) were not Kennys fault?

In my 20 years supporting Liverpool, Rafa was the best we had.He gave me great European nights, signed some wonderful players and had liverpool challenging for the league.

Kenny is stuck in the past and the pressure got to him, both on and off the field. The reason why alex ferguson is so succesfull is he learned to adapt to the modern game, something Kenny didnt. Dont even bother talking about luck and the ball hitting the woodwork..woodwork is OFFTARGET.

As for the signings...you really believe Damian Commolli wanted to sign British? He a french man, thinks it would be a great idea to sign British players, or maybe go back to days Kenny was last in charge of Liverpool and what nationalities were the players made up of?

I see BR is trying to fix the problem of us not being able to put the ball in the net by bringing along these two

I rather Lucas not being going all out in pre-season training tbh, especially considering what he has been through in the past 9 months or so.

They are not going to take any risks with him. His target has to be the first league game, so he'll need some minutes before that. I wouldn't risk him in the Europa games, Allen can play those. :D

Joe Cole can go **** himself with a blunt object. He embodies failure and unwarranted largesse. That is poison to a squad tasked with such a huge challenge.

I think people are a bit harsh on Joe Cole.

Its not his fault Liverpool decided to give him £5M (over 4 years) just for signing plus a salary of £65k a week!

I don't believe for a second that he doesnt give his best whenever he does play for us, but of course he's been a massive disappointment. If we do sell him, we still have to pay him the balance of the £5M signing-on fee.

He hasn't been a decent player in quite some time.

If we let the likes of Kuyt & Maxi go & keep Joe Cole, I despair.

    Clubs wanted Kuyt and Maxi.
How do we get rid of a player nobody wants.

    From Skrtel

He said: "I am a player of Liverpool because I have a valid contract here. There exist a number of offers but without the permission of Liverpool nothing can move forward.

"We have been in talks about a new contract but it has not moved forward. At the moment I am a Liverpool player and what happens in future in football you can never foresee.

"Anything can happen but for now I have a valid contract and what is to come will come."

Dont like the sound of that...
