Lovely flat in fairness. Is it your property you're marketing? :)

Eh, no. Wouldnt even want to be found dead in Amsterdam.

It may look well made that flat but you are talking €9000/m2 living space.

it is, on top of the sofa there is something you pull.
Plus, the duvet is "stored" on a shelf above the sofa.

honestly i really wish the government enforced the minimum square metres rule when it came to rented accomodation. Landlords seem to get away with renting out shoeboxes for exhorbitant rents.

These guidelines are issued without prejudice to the provisions of the Local Government (Planning and Development) Acts, 1963 to 1993, the Building Control Act, 1990, the Fire Services Act, 1981, any regulations made under those Acts and the regulations under the Housing Acts relating to private rented housing accommodation and are also without prejudice to the statutory development plan.

    One bedroom apartment:
    (two bedspaces) Recommended Minimum Areas
    Living area 11 sq. metres
    Kitchen area 5 sq. metres
    Dining area 4 sq. metres
    Bathroom
    Bedroom 10.2 sq. metres
    Storage area 1.5 sq. metres
(excluding area occupied by hot water cylinder)
    Circulation area

    Total Floor Area
    38 sq. metres

    Two bedroom apartment:
    (three bedspaces) Recommended Minimum Areas
    Living area 13 sq. metres
    Kitchen area 5 sq. metres
    Dining area 6 sq. metres
    Bathroom area
    Bedroom (Double) 10.2 sq. metres
    Bedroom (Single) 6.5 sq. metres
    Storage area 2.5 sq. metres
(excluding area occupied by hot water cylinder)
    Circulation area

    Total Floor Area
    55 sq. metres

    Three bedroom apartment:
    (5 bedspaces) Recommended Minimum Areas
    Living area 15 sq. metres
    Kitchen area 6 sq. metres
    Dining area 8 sq. metres
    Bathroom
    Bedroom (Double) 10.2 sq. metres
    Bedroom (Single) 6.5 sq. metres
    Storage area 3.5 sq. metres
(excluding area occupied by hot water cylinder)
    Circulation area

    Total Floor Area
    70 sq. metres

Here's the translation for the dutch apartment, if anyone was wondering:
A unique (investment) risk: your own studio on Prinsengracht
Located on the beautiful Prinsengracht between the cozy Utrechtsestraat and the Amstel with all shops, cafes and restaurants within walking distance offer an apartment in a beautiful monumental canal. The apartment has all necessary facilities, in good condition and has an area of approx 13 m2. The apartment is equipped with private bathroom / toilet, a kitchen and is located on the canal side on the 1st floor. This overlooks the beautiful Prinsengracht. This studio is very suitable to be used as a pied-a-terre, as your private room or as a permanent home in the heart of Amsterdam for a low price. Details: - HOA management outsourced to a professional organization; - freehold; - living destination.

If you check the tag on that blanket it would probably read "Property of Irish Prison Service".

When I moved to Rio, I saw an apartment that was just ridiculous.

There were four rooms in it. A cramped kitchen and a cramped bathroom with a washing machine in it. Fair enough. The other two rooms were both tiny, probably 2.5m x 5m, at best. There was little furniture, just a tiny table and a wardrobe so I was going to have get some. The guy showing it suggested I get an inflatable mattress. The price was good, roughly €240 a month for everything and right smack in the city centre, though it was in a bit of a dodgy neighbourhood.

But the best part of all this... I would have been sharing the apartment with four other people! And as one of them was a girl, I would've been cramped into one room with three other guys! Considering that you had to walk through the lads' room to get to the crapper and the girl's room was effectively the hallway\living room, it must be a nightmare to live there.

I also saw a room in Prague before that had no door or wall, just a curtain pulled across the entrance.

I know of a few Brazillian and East Timor lads working here. 13 in a 3 bedroom semi.

Oh god I missed that the first time then went back after reading your post *puke* And I recognise those blue striped blankets my parents got them as wedding presents in the late 70s.

This thread is epic, I sort of wish we could start it again but take screen shots instead of links because anything more than two pages back is gone now. Such a waste of lols.
