The Service IDs have been swapped thats why nothing was required to be done.

You will need to rescan when they move to Channel 30 next week.

My experience of FreeView equipment is that is handles EPG changes automatically, adding or moving channels as required. However they still recommend a rescan after any changes presumably to cover their tails. If you try to watch a channel that has moved you get an MHEG5 screen advising you to rescan.
I would hope that SaorView would have similar technology.

EDIT: Obviously they couldn't cope with the actual mux(es) moving. Thanks STB;)

Given the number of people who end up here looking for help rather than the SaorView site I can safely bet that there will be thousands ringing their dealers that "the telly's broke"

Freeview receivers vary when it comes to channel updates. Most modern ones (especially Freeview HD models) have the function to automatically add channels that are new, but many older receivers don't and have to have a rescan done manually. Receivers with this capability normally have an option in the menus to (a) auto-update, and (b) notify of updates made OR advise of new services requiring a rescan. Sometimes, especially if you're installing for someone who is very much a technophobe, it can be better to turn auto updates off lest (a) the intended viewer(s) get confused or (b) certain weather conditions bring in distant services, add them to the EPG, then disappear soon after and the viewer is wondering why these channels have stopped working.

I just pressed the ok button on the remote control, selected move RTE News Now from 5 to 6 on the old epg. 3e reverted back to that position as well.

I had noticed that from the radio channels, RTE Radio 1 Extra was swapped from channel 10 to 13 with no rescan.
