Where Do I Paste The Crack?!?

I'm trying to back up a game but thus far I've only been able to get the "Wrong CD. Please insert correct CD" error message when trying to launch. If I had a crack, where do I put this? I've tried pasting it on top of the actual launch application but no go so far...I'm not great with comps...anyone can help? what do?

I appreciate you own the software, but no discussion of cracking software is permitted regardless. If your having issues with the software, contact the manufacturer or publisher.
