New tactic iv seen someone do - Going Prone and pressing Q & E to avoid fire and then take your chance at firing when the time is right.
Some guy did this to me at Stary Sobor Miliary Camp, I was initially fuming as I had a AK-Kobra and had at least 1 or 2 shots in at him and unloaded about nearly 2 clips in his general direction (I really, REALLY thought I got him many times but seemingly didn't, even with a ACOG) but accepted that I was bested anyway. He had a Lee Enfield so at least I saw Zombies running towards him before I passed out and died
Probably good to do while in Third Person, First Person (particularly First Person only server) would be god awful as you lose your sight acquisition very easily rolling around0 -

Alt+tabbed to the desktop to check something quickly. When I switched back to dayz my character was emptying my only AK mag full auto.
for future reference if you plan on alt tabbing out double tap ctrl to lower your weapon. if it autofires when you come back in it will raise the weapon first.0 -

Honestly, before the bandit skins were done away with, I was very helpful to strangers. Even got murdered twice after giving someone a blood transfusion. But I hardly ever murdered anyone unprovoked.
Now all I seem to be doing is that. To make it even worse none of them disconnected in the firefight, which makes that murder toll all the more regretful.
Luckily (I guess) I decided to go prone in some bushes while I checked my map. As I'm looking at it I hear footsteps, quickly tap out of the map to see two survivors moving past me, in a way that made me think they had seen me from earlier, and were scanning the area. I had a bead on one as they were moving away, then he stops, turns around and goes prone facing my direction. I start shooting. Throw a frag at the other one, and fire some shots. Expecting to get killed at any moment I see the 'x was killed. x was killed' pop up. Then I start thinking "did I hear three sets of footsteps?!" So I run for my life.

That was me! Nooooo! hahaha, it's all goodAs I'm looking at the loot (just ammo for guns I don't have) I hear indirect fire. I figure the parked bus must be getting shot up. So I try and flank around from where the shots are coming from.
I ended up having a blast when I respawned and I even recorded it for youtube too. I was a bit gutted I lost my m4a1 CCO tho, but I was lucky enough to find another down at balota 0 -

Many apologies, and fair play for not disconnecting. Did you hear the bus at all? I was completely freaked out when I heard the shooting just as I reached the crash site. I thought "Genius, you just walked into an ambush!"

DC'ing is for childish pussies who can't handle being killed! I heard nothing, I was just waiting for a friend (he was afk quite far away) so I thought I'd quickly hit a deer hut for some ammo. Saw you in the trees hence why I dropped to the floor just before you shot :P You were right to shoot to be fair, I'd have shot you anyway so don't worry about your conscience
I adopted a KoS policy when I first started playing after I was killed around 3 or 4 times off the bat. I only play with people I know on Mumble 0 -

I was thinking of downloading this for a while, since it's holiday time here in I figured it was time. Then read a lot of these posts and it seems like what started as an excellent large scale survival mod has degraded to nothing more than deathmatch...way to go community
Things are going to change soon if I heard right. Rocket (the dev) wants to make it more group oriented. I can't remember the specifics. haha, yeah, when people drop to prone it's never a good sign. But you didn't shoot straight away, so I wasn't sure if you were typing 'friendly' or the grass was obscuring your view.0 -

Playing solo is rough. After getting killed in Stary tonight, every time I spawned, I had people go out of their way to kill me. Got chased by a guy and a girl with a shotgun and a hatchet. All i had was a hatchet. LOL. I hope they enjoyed my bandage and painkillers. :P
Then I spawned beside the airfield near Cherno. Popped over to check out the deer stands, and a dude with a hatchet and another unarmed dude was being chased by Z's. I sat up in the deer stand and waited for an opportunity to run, having nothing. So I legged it to the next deer stand to quickly check for anything and just as I got to the ladder, the guy with the hatchet legs it over and whacks me out of it.
This is basically how the I've spent my evening. :rolleyes:0 -
