email problem with mac pro

Just got a new mac pro 15in, everything great except I can't send or reply to emails. Have two @eircom.net accounts which I can receive emails fine but failing to reply or send a new email. Any ideas? Thanks

Probably a problem with the outgoing email server. It's a common issue. Unless Eircom is your broadband provider, their outgoing server won't work. You have to use your ISP's SMTP server.

Yeah Eircom is my ISP. Have always had this issue with the iPhone as well. I just wonder who to contact about it. Is it somebody in Eircom who can sort it out?

Details of how to set up your email are usually on the ISP's web site.

Mail server type: POP3
Incoming mail server: webmail.eircom.net
Outgoing mail server*: mail1.eircom.net
