    Achiman

I contacted Amazon earlier, they said Andrew James UK cancelled the order on the two occasions and no reason was given. I will ring AJ tomorrow and ask them why they cancelled. Thanks for your reply, I'll keep you posted.

    Quick update;

I contacted Andrew James UK Ltd, they apologised and said I should have received an email re cancellation, explaining that my address was 'outside of area' (Tipperary) for standard delivery charge and if I wanted to proceed with the order the delivery charge by courier would be £24.90.

Anyway, they took £10 off the price of the oven, in the end it worked out at only €8 extra! I'm looking forward to taking delivery of my new Halogen Oven in a couple of days.

Tried roast veg with rosti and chorizo last night.

2 trays, one with the veg (onion, carrot, peppers) and one with spuds and chorizo. Basically disaster. Loads of liquid came out of the veg (about 8 tablespoons) and pooled at the base and as a result the spuds wouldnt crunch up. I kept draining it but obviously not ideal.

In a real oven this would have burned off. Bit peeved.

So in future I reckon I will have to limit myself to only meat and spuds (or) fish and veg.

I am due to collect one of these from argos tomorrow but noticed that it says "Current selling price valid until 08/02/2012", as tomorrow is the 8th does that mean i will pay the full price, or is it till close of business on the 8th?

The Cookworks model looks like a good deal at €32.99 with mixed reviews on the Argos UK site, at that price you cant go wrong, looks like its 17l capacity includes using the extender, let us know how it works out

yeah i read the reviews, albeit after i had reserved it lol Overall they didn't seem too bad and as you say at that price you can't go wrong. My kitchen is tiny so my biggest concern at the moment is where the hell i'm going to put it :)

Big but not huge, guess its will be similar to mine (Andrew James) 15" high and aprox 14" diameter

We got an Aldi one a few weeks back, used it once, didn't like the results. Probably not using it correctly but its now consigned to a top shelf in the kitchen, if anyone is still looking to but an Aldi one then PM me and we'll sort something out.

You could also just bring it back to Aldi

Thats true I suppose as I have the receipt, no box though so they might not be too keen.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,327 ✭✭✭bogman

Checked stock of this a week ago, out of stock except for Sligo and they had just one at the time, easy for Argos to have offers like this, another thing for them to be available

I Checked stock of this on 1st February ..... the first day it was on at half price! All stores were out of stock, except Sligo and Tralee who had 1 left.

Think I was the person who got the last one in Sligo. Picked it up on Thurs after reserving it Wed night. Used it today for the first time and was very pleased with it. Early days yet but at least it made a good start

so far have only cooked chicken and frozen salmon and both were only delicious.

Judging the correct temp and time is a bit tricky the first time you use it but after that it's brilliant and soooo easy to clean.

I agree, the first time I used it I cooked a lamb casserole .... a bit ambitious for the first time I know ... it took two hours, about the same as the conventional oven. I've since cooked a medium size roast chicken in one hour and it was delicious and so juicy. I think it's a matter of trial and error until I master the time and temperature. Washing up after is a joy though. :D

    Hey guys :D

I feel so lost without mine lol I had it since Nov '10 and the lid/bulb finally stopped working right in the middle of cooking a homemade burger so typical, had to finish it in the George  I used to love that but the difference in taste is huge and it was so dry! It only broke last week :(

I have been been trying all the usual Lidl, Aldi, Argos ... I kinda wanted to get it somewhere I could collect and bring it home but everywhere seems sold out. Found you guys chatting about various ones when I was searching so guess I am not the only big fan of them ha ha :D My own one was just a generic one but I still loved it!

Thought I would share this ;) just found it on Ebay tonight http://www.ebay.ie/itm/NEW-DIGNITY-12-LITRE-PORTABLE-HALOGEN-OVEN-900W-WARRANTY-24-/130637339226?pt=UK_HGKitchen_SmallApp_RL&hash=item1e6a979a5a#ht_4926wt_1037

    £21.99
Approximately EUR 26.42 and €7.20 postage to Tipp ;)

I've never heard of the brand "Dignity" so wondered if any of you had good/bad reviews before I make the plunge ;)

    Cheers :D

I never heard of it either but it looks identical to the one I bought in Aldi and which I find great. However, there is no mention of the extender ring. I presume it is included, but it would be better to make 100% sure.

I saw some yesterday in one of the Buy Lo stores, think there are not too many of them around the country though. Didn't look at the price I'm afraid.

BTW I love mine but I don't think their best use if for things like casseroles, they are a more basic product than the ads would have you believe and their strong point is roasting type jobs, I mind my nephew occasionally and he only eats pizzas and big al's chicken something or others, like nuggets, anyway it is great for both of those and wedges, oven chips, donegal catch, sausages, that sort of thing. For casseroles I use the slow cooker turned to high, takes couple of hours, got it for 7.99 in Argos. Mind you the halorgen bakes great scones in small quantities.

Try Maplin. I saw a few in Galway at €40 earlier on this week.

Lift off lid version - seems to be the same Chinese made clone everywhere
