Please show me concrete examples of how subconscious conditioning is being applied to my life at this moment.

So you've never been influenced by any advertising to try a certain product, or style of clothes/shoes/glasses etc, never formed an opinion on someone based on the fashion of the clothes they wear, or the music they listen to etc etc ad infinitum. Everything has been a fully conscious, deliberate choice on your part?

So if I buy a jumper because it looked nice on someone else or a try a new bar of chocolate or I dated somebody because they liked the same bands as me or the fact that I always thought slip ons were ugly - these were all examples of subconscious conditioning to enslave my innocent soul?!?! Egadz! Will we ever be free?!?!

Some choices were deliberate, some were flippant. But now I realise that those flippant choices, like when I said I'd jump off that wall when I was drunk, that was me being controlled by the media… I'm shocked…

Looking at the first few pages of this thread, title should have been named, popular opinions.

Anyways, boards is just one big circle. Same threads being made from scratch. You can't post in a thread a few years old even though it could be a thread like, "sorest injury every" or something.

If new threads weren't made boards would die.

So, ostensibly you're saying that anyone who doesn't believe in god is doing so as some pretentious stance to show their smarter than other people. But in doing so, they are leaving a spiritual void in their lives that is being manipulated by insidious media overlords to enslave them.

You don't get out much, do you…

Ostensibly? No. That's not what I am saying at all. I think Prinz has completely grasped what I am saying and he has summed it up very well. You, on the other hand have twisted what I said and put words in my mouth. Notice first, that I said "many people who take an anti-religion stance" and not "all people...". I never said anything about their lack of belief in a god leaving a spiritual void in their lives. Don't get me wrong, I am an agnostic and having been utterly immersed in evangelist fundamentalist Christianity throughout my childhood, I am no fan of religion. You are right about the insidious media and enslavement bit though. Slavery is where we are headed and we will be the best kind slaves to, slaves who don't even know that they are slaves. Sure we are almost there already.

What are the new ideals that are going to enslave me? How is media going to capture me beyond giving me a subconscious desire to have a big mac? Why does what I choose to or not to privately believe in terms of spirituality become part of a battle or war?

All I'm getting here is a vague doomsday scenario that I, no matter what I choose to do or believe, will be controlled by some unseen, malignant force. Féck that feces...

I won't bother discussing with someone who is so readily dismissive of what I am saying. If you think it's feces, then there is simply no point. You'll find out soon enough.

Ireland cant afford to take the 6 counties back . If England offered it tomorrow we would have to refuse . It costs a fortune to police . It looks alot prettier than England does because it wants to win over the people.
Anyone still banging on about give the north back tires my ears.

I would not go so far as Long Legged Mack Daddy, but there are plenty of atheists who believe in all kinds of quasi-religious nonsense, or pseudo-science, or replace the Kingdom of God with the Kingdom of Marx, or Rand. Or consumerism - but kunst nugget is correct there too, the effect of advertising is overblown by its supporters and detractors.

But, that said, even though I dislike the modern Atheist, an atheist can be a critical thinker, though most aren't, but a religious person cant really.

When I talk about media influence, I am talking about ideologies which go well beyond simple consumerism and advertising. I am talking about the undermining of community, family, culture and heritage etc. I am talking about the destruction of the concept of personal privacy and sovereignty. I am talking about the celebrity culture. I am talking about the dehumanizing of humans, and people being encouraged to have contempt for each other and themselves. Divide and conquer. I am talking about political propaganda conditioning people to accept oil wars in the name of "freedom" or the "need" to transfer of more and more money and resources (well power really) to banking dynasties. I am talking about the promotion of promiscuity in young teenagers. I am talking about people being conditioned to accept as normal and acceptable, things such as the proliferation of surveillance and state supervision of more and more aspects of peoples lives. I'm talking about the dissemination of fear. I'm talking about the dumbing down of society. And much more besides. An assault on many, many, many fronts. For what? to weaken you. Why? To make you a slave. A slave who does not even know they are a slave.

This is nonsense. You're somehow trying to find a common thread to tie what you see as all the woes of the world into a unifying package of despair to convince yourself that you're smarter than everyone else because you can see it and they can't.

What has teenagers shagging got to do with oil wars?

dance music is not actually music its just noise

Of course it's music. Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean that it isn't music.

I think the Kardashian tv shows are very entertaining, fun and I like them. I also like their personas. Khloe, in particular.

    'K?

When have I banged on about religion. I've mentioned it in a certain context but I have not "banged on about it". If you have comprehension problems, just read and re-read my posts until you get the simple message contained within.

It's worth pointing out that a good part of this thread, since my original post has been taken up with reaction to that post. Most of it negative. It truly is an unpopular opinion. Interesting though that it has elicited such a reaction.
    I think I've touched a nerve.

Not true, I have time for constructive thinking and rational discussions that have a basis in reality and can be backed up with facts. I have very little time for people that come out with sweeping statements calling people blind and stupid and coming out with paranoid rhetoric about media enslavement. If you're going to come out with statements about how the media is controlling us, back it up with facts.

Just because I believe that my dog is controlled by an eight tentacled alien with six arses and people are just too blind and stupid to see it doesn't make it so.

Here's my unpopular opinion. The internet has been a fantastic tool in helping us communicate with people and get information on any subject we want but the big downside is that any delusional crank can spout paranoid, hair brained theories about how the world works and they will find a willing audience of gullible people to lap it up. This what we see with the anti-vaccination movement or the people that believe that the moon landings didn't happen. In the words of Tim Minchin, if you open your mind too much, your brain will fall out.

Football is not an entertaining sport, its players are paid far too much and it's ridiculous how emotionally invested in matches people get especially when THE TEAM THEY SUPPORT ISN'T EVEN FROM THEIR OWN ****ING COUNTRY!

The very reason that it's entertaining is because of the emotional investment. There are more entertaining sports but it's no accident that football is by far the biggest sport around the World.

Teenagers shouldn't be allowed to be mothers , maybe take the kid off them until they're mature enough to be mothers ... Perhaps when they turn 20/21

I take it then, that you are an authority on what is "constructive thinking" and "rational discussions". Is that why you had to use the tactic of cheap mockery, trying to compare what I am saying about media influence to believing in "eight tentacled aliens with six arses"?

Anyway, you are not worth bothering with, for two reasons. 1) you are totally disingenuous and 2) despite all of your "rationality", you are afraid that if you open your mind too much, your brain will fall out! LOL. You'll be believing in shape-shifting lizards next!

Oh by the way. Did you get the swine flu vaccination? The reason I ask is that, in some cases, it causes narcolepsy, and you certainly seem to be the sleepy sort to me.

No. I'm just pointing out that I have gotten a reaction. I think people react badly to such ideas because deep down, they know where things are headed and it scares the excrement out of them.
