Any body got one and what do you think of them..

I just got one last week and maiden flight was today.:D

First flight was great , very short take off and up she went..

Getting the feel for my new plane I was flying back and forth across the flying field,forgot to keep a eye on the time(20mins had past:eek:)
resulted in me flatting the Li-Po,so had to hand over my Tx to a friend to bring it in on a dead stick..
On inspection after landing found the Li-Po had puffed up,
so thats for the bin...
lucky I've 3 new 2200mAh 40c in the mail which should arrive this week..

Very colourfull!

They fly nice, I am on Wot #2. Wot #1 went in on an inverted low pass when the elevator control arm pulled from the keeper on the servo horn. Lesson learned - I check those every flight now!

I'm waiting on so bigger wheels,
stock wheels are 60mm , I've some 75mm on the way . .

I see the Acrowot Foam E is available now. I'd be pretty keen to try that out based on the fun factor of the Wot4. I have a few other 'new builds' under way though so may be a month or two.

Up-Date on my WOT4 Foam-e....

It's dead :mad:

Didn't even have it a week:eek:
Elevator servo went/striped , so could not pull out of a dive..

landing gear departed , prop in bits , motor shaft snapped , motormount bent , front of fuse looks like a pigs nose .

Aargh, sorry to hear that. My first Wot4 went a similar way, I hadn't tightened the elevator rod sufficiently in the clevis and it popped out in a dive to a demise.

I've heard of people changing the servos in them though, hopefully the Acrowot has a higher spec of onboard equipment.

It's possible to repair foam planes by putting the foam in to nearly boiling water - might be an option for you?

I mite just do that

But for now I've just ordered another one:cool: and some metal geared servos for the elevator and rudder.

Hi Sean,
I am on my second WOT myself, crashed the 1st one multiple times.
I habe broken motor shafts (x3). Ripped undercarriage, bad servos.
My number 2 had never crashed but motor mount was a little lose so the whole nose was vibrating. It flies beautifully but to be honest i find them simply too weak.
I am considering the purchase of the balsa version.

I was looking at one of those too, there only £75-ish plus postage from the UK.

I've allso been reading up on RCGroup Forum about the new Acro WOT foam-e , but that seems to have more or less the same problems:( as the WOT4 Foam-e.

Hope the breaking of the motor shaft does not happen again but if it does I found a shop that will sell you to repair the motor. It comes cheaper than 36€ for a replacement motor.

Even better then buying a new motor is a replacement motor shaft.

If you message the seller (Martin)
he will post a new WOT4 Motor Shaft over to Ireland.

I saw balsa Wot4's in Marks Models at Rathcoole although I think these may have been the glow version. Capel St model shop had the balsa - E versions though. A couple of phone calls may save you shipping from the UK!!

Marks Models in Cork don't sell any R/C flying stuff

The only R/C flying shop we did have was Noel Barretts Models,
that has closed down because he retired.

The Marks Models in Rathcoole (Dublin) does, I had heard they were some kind of franchise? not sure if that's true but it might account for why one has R/C and the other one doesn't.

Oh my message wasnt clear. I did buy shafts only (after the motors hehehe) and was very happy with the fix.

Got my New Wot4 Foam-e.

First things first strenghten the tail namely the rubber.
Added 3x 1" pins as seen in the photos

This will make that area of foam stronger
where the screw hold the rudder in place.

I've swapped out the wing servos for some
RIPMAX New Power XL 16HM (3.5kg)

Now these servos are mini not micro so are slightly bigger,but not that much.

New servo solderd on to the old wires.

Servos fitted in to place and held in place with some plywood and glue.
turned around the push rods ,so that the Z bend in now on the servo arm and fitted pushrod connectors at the control horn end.

The under carriage mod.

Drilled 2x 5mm holes though the fuse.

Did the same on the bracket.

Epoxeed some hardwood ply on the inside of fuse.

M5 bolts with washers and nylon nuts.

Head and washers on the ply wood side.

Nylon nuts hold the under carriage in place and will hopefully pull the nylon nuts off the steel bolts without damageing the fuse.

Fitted a M5 Allen head bolt with washer as my wing bolt.

I have a spare Wot4 motor that I'm putting in to another frame for a laugh.

I just did a WATT test just for you

Using a fully charged Turnigy 3cell 2200mAh 40c Li-Po
280watt and only 24amp draw with a balanced APC 11x7e prop.

Same as you I have a spare motor,thinking about fitting it in a spare Radian fuse that I have ,then fitting a 11x8 folding prop..

Here's a mod on my WOT4 Foam-e that I did and I've not seen
anybody else do this on any of the WOT4 Foam-e threads

Moving the elevator control rod :cool:

If you see where I've got my pointer pointed,
Thats the servo end on the new control rod sleeve.

Slot cut out of the fuse for the sleeve to exit from.
Control horn now fitted to the elevator.

Nice work Sean, you've got the most 'hotrodded' Wot4 I think

My son's Wot suffered undercarriage rip out last night. He is just learning to land, it was on his first approach and he didn't flare enough. We put in a fresh battery, strapped the battery door shut and hand launched successfully for a few more flights.

The Wot flies faster/nicer without the undercarriage!

Will glue it all back together this week for next weekend so he can practice take offs as well as landings

I have a photo on the camera but I didn't get home from flying until quite late last night..
