When the exam is over do you have to stop writing or do you get 1 or 2 more mins to finish off????

When it's over, it's over, usually the examiner will say "5 minutes left" so by then, finish off the question you are doing and don't try to attempt another one, there's no point.

But make sure you manage your time properly. Have a watch.
