The little blue sachets. I used to throw in a bit of vinegar as well. Lovely stuff.

    Posh git.

The crisps were unsalted and had a little sachet for salt in each bag. Of course, we had to fill them with our own salt before mixing it in.
    Huh?! I don't remember that at all! You're really 40 aren't you?

I do buy those expensive Kettle crisps when I know I'm gonna be around town late, seen as it's illegal to carry knives.

You never spoke a truer word. Eat a packet of those and you feel like you've deep-throated a packet of Wilkinson Swords. :D:D

I remember when Tayto were 2 1/2p and when you dropped the packet on the side of the road at the beginning of the summer holidays it would still be there on your way back to school in September but bleached a pleasing light blue/pink - proper summers and none of that foil packing crap.

Saw a pack of Hunky Dorys in my local Centra this morning for €1.10 a pack.

don't buy in these robbing so called convenience stores, take a look at rip off Fresh stores who charge €1:15 for a crunchie, flake, wispa etc for the last two weeks Tesco has had a offer of a four pack of any of the above for €1:13.

Four for a cheaper price than one(just don't eat them all yourself)
just for old money counters that's 22p each, not to bad

    Country Spring

3 litres of flavoured hydrochloric acid for next to nathin' and you still had change left over to buy some chocolate cigerattes.

Desperate Dan bars - reef the teeth out of ya so they would!

Don't know how the shop keepers put up with me getting them to pick out the different penny sweets. Was in a shop in Lahinch a few weeks back and they had all the old sweets - tasted the same too. Mindblowing.

KitKats had the tinfoil and paper instead of the plastic foil. Anyone member cadbury's Astros? Like cigarette packs with biscuity smarty yokes. Smarties used to come in tubes - do they still do that?

Most of the crisps had transparent parts of the bag so you could see the crisps inside. I'm pretty sure they used to have the price printed on the packs then too (like chipsticks 12p actually part of the graphic design).

Meanies are good but spaced invaders were better (gone now - they were 12p when meanies were 10).

Smiley bars - kinda like a chomp but with orange toffee.

Two penny mice with "blood" on the inside (brown chocolate, bigger than the regular white mice - more like rats come to think of it ;) and red goo on the insid like those ghostbusters bars with the imprint of slimer on them).

Black jacks that actually made your tongue turn black. Fruit salads, apple jacks, postman pats.

It's a wonder we survived at all...

Ah the day when you got 50p to go to the shop, and come out with more crap than you knew what to do with.

Mr. Freezes we're serious, no matter what time of the year, I still have memories of cycling around the place with a mr. Freeze hanging out of my mouth, the jumbo ones they brought out where very cool too. They have stopped selling them separately now which I think is a crying shame, our shop lady refused to sell them to us when they werent frozen, because apparently it wasnt good to drink them, can anyone shed some light on why???

I also remember tattoos were a serious selling point, I remember getting bags of perri taytos just for them, there were a few but I distinctly remember a rose. Most annoying thing was going through the whole process wetting it the right ammount and then waiting the right ammount of time before gently pulling the paper off to get your flawless tattoo, the mammy would come on a scrub it off that night, because you couldn't go into school looking like that!

In fact on the point of free stuff like tattoos why don't the feckers give anything away anymore, cerals don't even have prizes anymore, what's that about like!

    Liptons Iced Tea

Every year during Wimbledon in the early nineties there would be a huge campaign
Ads everywhere, billboards, TV, radio, everywhere
Clearly worked as I still remember it

Pretty much all the shops had it.

But haven't seen it on sale in years and years, probably over a decade
