Quick question if someone can help me please?

I vaguely remember there was a book written about Rafa's sacking and the demise of G&H. I think the title might have had 'the last....' in the title.

Anyone know the book I'm talking about, who wrote it and is it any good?

    Thanks

    An Epic Swindle?

    AGHHHHHH.

WTF are you talking about, he "gets" the club? What does he "get" exactly? What is there to "get"?

Liverpool fans tend to throw this around but I can't figure out what this special knowledge is that Liverpool managers seem to need to have. It's a f**king club. Its a business. Dalglish can "get" it all he likes but he was a failure in the role. Had it been any other manager that was deemed not to "get" the club by the fans he would have been gone within 6 months, out the door like Hodgson.

This romantic notion of the manager having some sort of deep understanding of the "soul" of the club is boll*x. Do you think Man City fans care that Mancini has no heritage with the club or Real/Inter/Chelsea that Mourinho is a mercenary? No, he wins trophies without needing to "get" the club. It's called success.

Mmm...you obviously just don't get the club!

So, no shock that Brendan Rodgers is one of the managers #LFC have invited for interview for head coach job. #Swans

He says we have so far approached two managers for interviews next week.

I honestly can't remember, I've been flitting from site to site and station to station like a bee or David Bowie.

Think Ian Ayre said it on the radio this morning, but says this on the club site:
What is the process now in the recruitment of a new manager?

It's essentially the same as it's always been at Liverpool Football Club. Whether it was the board of Liverpool recruiting Bill Shankly many years ago or the recruitment of Kenny Dalglish 18 months ago, it's the same process. The board will create a criteria of what that manager should look like and we'll match that with the best possible candidates and make a decision on that basis.

When do LFC hope to have a new man in place?

That will be dictated by finding the right candidate of the right quality. What we want is the best, what we don't want is to choose quickly or choose because there's a time pressure. It'll be about finding the right person who can do the best job for Liverpool Football Club.

This sentimental shít is getting old. If another manager performed like Kenny did over the last season then there would be none of this tripe.

Its not entirely about sentimentality ya big girls blouse ya ;)

Practically everyone i know to a man who wanted Kenny to stay, only wanted 1 more year to make right what went wrong this year. If he had another season where he finished 6th or whatever the majority would want a new man and give thanks for the effort.

If i wanted a plastic flag waving, genetically modified existence, merry go round circus, id go support Chelsea.

I read that as well, it was excellent.

Apparently Whelan has said LFC have approached him over Martinez.

He showed no signs of making anything right this season so i wouldnt have trusted him with another year, i wouldnt have trusted him in the transfer market this summer either.

This will be the second manager hired by the new owners. First one didn't work out.

Had Royal Bank of Scotland/Purslow/Previous owners - whomever Sacked Rafa not done so, he'd probably still be our manager.

    [Stevie G .
Steven Gerrard today thanked Kenny Dalglish for having such a major influence on his career - and then vowed to do all he can to help inspire a successful new era at Liverpool Football Club.

Gerrard admits he was saddened to learn of Dalglish's departure on Wednesday afternoon, but he is now keen to play his part in ensuring the progress made under the Scotsman over the past eighteen months is built on under a new manager over the coming years.

"The last 24 hours has been a rollercoaster for me," said the Anfield skipper. "I am very sad to see Kenny leave our club. He is my idol and will always be my idol and I would like to express my thanks and appreciation for what he has done for my career.

"My focus now is on doing my best for England in the European Championships and then returning to Liverpool for a new season where we will look to build on the progress of the last 18 months and be competitive at the business end of the Premier League."

Ah we played some good football, we battered a lot of teams, there is a fine line between success and failure in this game, I would have given him another season, Some of his signings let him done badly, most of us were quiet happy with his signings last summer.

Who was the reason we finished 8th in the league!

I'm not sure where either you or Rigger (I feel weird calling him Andy Carroll :p ) are getting the notion that I'm advocating letting sentiment get in the way of rational thinking.

I started my post by saying I wasn't disappointed with his sacking. I then went on to say how reading stuff like Carra's quote is quite sad when put in context of one of LFC's greatest legends.

If you'd been on this forum and followed any of my posts yesterday then you'll note I'm all for sacking Dalglish if it means we get someone of Rafa, AVB or Deschamps quality. The likes of Martinez and O Neill can **** right off.

Knowing how much the club means to Kenny, and being the man he is, you can afford a bit of sentiment in his departure for **** sake. Its natural to feel slightly saddended by him leaving the club this way.

Happy with the decision to fire him? - In all probability yes as I expect us to sign a manager in the mould that I've been suggesting.

Happy with how things turned out with Kenny? - Hardly. And this is where the sentiment lies.

Fredy Guarín off to Inter for €11million.

If we don't get at the very least a DoF in place very shortly we're gonna miss out on a lot of potential player acquisitions and will have to compete in the inflated post €2012 market. Although Ian Ayre insists otherwise the thought of him signing playing staff could be as bad as Purslow. *shudder*

Oh stop! You'll have me welling up!

I have no idea and I'll hope if he said that it would not be put in the public domain. It would look a bit crass.

Really hope those Rodgers and Martinez stories aren't true, I fear the worst though
